We're nearly half way through 2017, already, which means it's getting close to the annual onslaught of blockbuster movie releases so we thought it would be useful to collate - and date - them for you in one easy-to-read piece.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge (3D) – May 26th

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow feels the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost sailors led by his old nemesis, the evil Captain Salazar, escape from the Devil's Triangle. Jack's only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it, he must forge an uneasy alliance with a brilliant and beautiful astronomer and a headstrong young man in the British navy.

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul – June 2nd

Not a blockbuster but my kids wouldn’t forgive me if it weren’t included! In the latest movie adaptation of the extremely popular children’s book series, the eponymous Greg Heffley is looking forward to a long summer of just hanging out, but his mother throws a monkey wrench into his plans when she forces the entire family to take a road trip for a relative's birthday celebration. His eyes soon light up after he realizes that the excursion is his ticket to a gaming convention to meet YouTube sensation Mac Digby. Greg's imagination then kicks into overdrive as he sneakily hatches a scheme to attend the expo and gain some much-deserved fame.



Wonder Woman (3D) – June 2nd

Yes, it’s another Superhero movie and, yes, it’s another ‘strong female lead’ but it’s sure to be big at the box office. Before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.

The Mummy – June 9th

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the desert, an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in the modern era, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll, head up this reboot that is the first film in a new franchise based on Universal's Dark Universe of famous monsters



Gifted – June 16th

Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising a child prodigy - his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) - in a coastal town in Florida. Frank's plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the 7-year-old's mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank's formidable mother, Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan), whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary.



Transformers: The Last Night – June 23rd

With a budget of $260M this one needs to be another hit for Michael Bay! Humans are at war with the Transformers, and Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving the future lies buried in the secrets of the past and the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Now, it's up to the unlikely alliance of Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), Bumblebee, an English lord (Anthony Hopkins) and an Oxford professor (Laura Haddock) to save the world.



Despicable Me 3 – June 30th

Gru faces off against Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who has grown up to become obsessed with the character that he played in the '80s, and gets into some sibling rivalry when he meets his long-lost charming, cheerful, and more successful twin brother Dru who wants to team up with him for one last criminal heist to steal the diamond that Bratt has stolen.



Spider-Man: Homecoming (3D) – July 3rd

Following the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016) and thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighbourhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.



Cars 3 – July 14th

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast cars, the legendary Lighting McQueen finds himself pushed out of the sport that he loves. Hoping to get back in the game, he turns to Cruz Ramirez, an eager young technician who has her own plans for winning. With inspiration from the Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns, No. 95 prepares to compete on Piston Cup Racing's biggest stage.



War for the Planet of the Apes – July 15th

Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both of their species and the future of the planet.



Dunkirk – July 21st

Christopher Nolan is directing so this is sure to be a visual spectacle, albeit that many of the sequences will be harrowing. In May 1940, Germany advanced into France, trapping Allied troops on the beaches of Dunkirk. Under air and ground cover from British and French forces, troops were slowly and methodically evacuated from the beach using every serviceable naval and civilian vessel that could be found. At the end of this heroic mission, 330,000 French, British, Belgian and Dutch soldiers were safely evacuated.



Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets– August 4th

In the 28th century, special operatives Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline work together to maintain order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the minister of defence, the duo embarks on a mission to Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis where diverse species gather to share knowledge and culture. When a dark force threatens the peaceful city, Valerian and Laureline must race against time to identify the menace that also jeopardizes the future of the universe.



Atomic Blonde – August 11th

Agent Lorraine Broughton (Charlize Theron) is equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on an impossible mission. Sent alone into Berlin to retrieve a priceless dossier from within the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through a deadly game of spies.



The Dark Tower – August 18th

Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), the last Gunslinger, is locked in an eternal battle with Walter O'Dim (Matthew McConaughey), also known as the Man in Black. The Gunslinger must prevent the Man in Black from toppling the Dark Tower, the key that holds the universe together. With the fate of worlds at stake, two men collide in the ultimate battle between good and evil.



The Hitman's Bodyguard – August 18th

The world's top protection agent is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world's most notorious hit men. The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their journey from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a merciless Eastern European dictator who is out for blood.



American Made – August 25th

Barry Seal (Tom Cruise), a TWA pilot, is recruited by the CIA to provide reconnaissance on the burgeoning communist threat in Central America and soon finds himself in charge of one of the biggest covert CIA operations in the history of the United States. The operation spawns the birth of the Medellin cartel and almost brings down the Reagan White House.

It – September 8th

Based on a novel by Stephen King where children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, neighbourhood kids band together to square off against Pennywise, an evil clown whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.



Kingsman: The Golden Circle – September 22nd

With their headquarters destroyed and the world held hostage, members of The Kingsman find new allies when they discover a spy organization in the United States known as The Statesman. In an adventure that tests their strength and wits, the elite secret agents from both sides of the pond band together to battle a ruthless enemy and save the day, something that's becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy.



Blade Runner 2049 – October 6th

Anticipation levels are extremely high for this long awaited sequel! Officer K (Ryan Gosling), a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who's been missing for 30 years.



The LEGO Ninjago Movie – October 13th

The battle for NINJAGO City calls to action young Master Builder Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, also secret ninja warriors. Led by Master Wu (Jackie Chan), as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat the evil warlord Garmadon (Justin Theroux), who also happens to be Lloyd's dad. Pitting father against son, the epic showdown tests these fierce but undisciplined modern-day ninjas as they learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash the inner power of Spinjitzu.



Geostorm – October 20th

After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world's leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong: the system built to protect Earth is attacking it, and it becomes a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything and everyone along with it.



Thor: Ragnarok – 27th October

Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor's quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela (Cate Blanchett) from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.



Murder on the Orient Express – November 3rd

A lavish trip through Europe quickly unfolds into a race against time to solve a murder aboard a train. Everyone's a suspect as Detective Hercule Poirot sifts through 13 strangers to find the killer before another person ends up dead in this Kenneth Brannagh remake.

Paddington 2 – November 10th

Paddington, having settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, has become popular in his community. He sees a unique pop-up book in Mr. Gruber's antique shop, and performs several odd jobs to purchase it as a present for his aunt Lucy's 100th birthday. When the book is stolen, it is up to him and the Browns to apprehend the thief.

Justice League -November 17th

Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's (Henry Cavill) selfless act, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes -- Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash – it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.



Cloverfield Movie – December 1st

Originally slated as The God Particle, this is third instalment in the loosely connected Cloverfield series. As usual little is known, although we at least have more advanced notice than on 10 Cloverfield Lane. Apparently the ploy revolves around a shocking discovery that forces a team of astronauts aboard a space station to fight for survival while their reality has been altered.

Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi – December 15th

For many, this is THE blockbuster of 2017 but plot details are, as yet, sparse but we know the movie heavily involves Rey, Finn and Luke as they pick up where The Force Awakens left off. Glean what you can from the Teaser Trailer below:



Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle – December 26th

Four high school kids discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game's jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose, one of whom includes The Rock. What they discover is that you don't just play Jumanji - you must survive it. To beat the game and return to the real world, they'll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, discover what Alan Parrish left 20 years ago, and change the way they think about themselves - or they'll be stuck in the game forever.


So there we have it, there's plenty to look forwards to but what's on your list for a cinema visit, which ones will you wait for a home release on and which will you avoid watching altogether?
