Remember docking stations? They were once all the rage but since Apple introduced the Lightning Connector, the manufacturers' enthusiasm has waned.
Not so Arcam who have just announced their new rDock-uni for those that don’t believe in wireless streaming. The rDock is designed for the latest iPhone, iPad and iPods and features full Lightning compatibility.
The rDock-uni, Arcam tells us, is equipped with ‘audiophile-grade’ circuitry throughout and users can choose to use the internal DAC on the rDoc uni, or send a digital signal directly to an external audiophile DAC.

The rDock extracts digital audio from the iDevice and processes the music via its Burr and Brown/TI PCM1502 DAC. It also features Arcam’s de-jittering circuitry and has analogue stereo outs that can be slotted in to your existing HiFI setup.
Arcam only use genuine Apple Certified “Made For” Lightning connectors with the correct authentication chip. The rDock-uni also allows users to connect any older 30-pin iDevice to the dock via a rear- mounted USB connector.
The rDock-uni by Arcam is priced at £200 and will, of course, be present at The Bristol Show this weekend.
