Chord Electronics will be hosting the European launch of Hugo, a mobile DAC/headphone amp, at Sound and Vision 2014.
Just like its high-end Chord stablemates, Hugo is based on Chord Electronics’ proprietary FPGA DAC technology, rather than the majority of DACs with their off-the-shelf chips.

The device can be used both as a mobile product and in a static system and boasts five digital inputs (inc. Bluetooth), a 12-hour battery life and three (simultaneous use) headphone outputs.

Chord also promises Hugo offers ‘studio-master-tape sound quality’, offering up to 384kHz PCM plus DSD 64 and 128 playback for today’s high-resolution DXD music files.

Chord Hugo

Hugo is Chord Electronics’ most advanced 32-bit DAC and can be used with a range of audio devices from CD/DVD players to computers, smartphones, tablets and more. Its bypassable digital volume control gives promises a great deal of accuracy and enables Hugo to be used as a standalone DAC when directly connected to a volume-controllable amplifier.

Chord will also be playing their Reference-level streamer, the DSX1000 and the SPM1400 monoblocks. In addition to experiencing both the Hugo and DSX1000, show visitors can see the new CodeX streamer and put questions to the Chord team.

Chord looks forward to welcoming all visitors in the Matthew Suite on the Lower Ground floor.
