The DHT-S416 joins its fellow soundbars in the comprehensive DHT range but is the first to come with Google Chromecast built-in.
Denon’s current soundbar lineup includes the DHT-S216 (£219) going up to the DHT-S716H (£799), with the 2.1 channel S416 slotting into the affordable middle ground at £299 (€329).
The presence of Chromecast built-in allows listeners to stream Hi-Res audio over Wi-Fi from music services including Google Play Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music HD, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, Qobuz, and more. Not only that but the S416 can be grouped with other Chromecast-enabled speakers to create a wireless multi room system by using the Google Home App. And for those wanting hands free control, voice commands such as play, pause and adjust volume can also be issued if used with a Google Assistant enabled device.
The DHT-S416’s audio is handled by a pair of 1.25 x 4.4-inch full-range oval drivers and two 1-inch tweeters housed in a slender frame, which at 5.6cm tall, is slimline enough to sit comfortably below most modern TVs. There’s an option for wall mounting too.
The included wireless subwoofer can be discreetly and easily placed and features a 5.25-inch driver in a ported enclosure to extend the bass.
Easily set up in a few minutes, the DHT-S416 combines advanced acoustics and precise tuning by Denon sound masters to playback discrete multi-channel Dolby surround sound information with improved clarity and realism when connected to HD and 4K TVs. Support for HDMI ARC also means that the soundbar can be controlled with the TV’s remote or, if HDMI is not available, the optical input can be used. Wireless connectivity via Bluetooth means the S416 can be paired with mobile devices to stream music, podcasts and other audio content.
The DHT-S416 offers three Denon Dialogue Enhancer modes for achieving your ideal level of vocal clarity from TV soundtracks and users can also turn up dialogue without adjusting the overall volume level.
There’s a trio of different sound processing modes - Movie, Music and Night – to suit your listening requirements and a Pure mode eliminates surround processing so audio can be heard in its unprocessed state.
The Denon DHT-S416 is priced at £299 / €329 and is available from end of September via authorised Denon retailers.
