Philips launch OLED 754 budget 4K TV

All the features but none of the premium

by Steve Withers
Philips announced the new OLED+ 984 and 934 4K TVs at its press conference, but the manufacturer also had an ace up its sleeve. The OLED 754 4K TV will be launched in the UK next week, and it boasts plenty of features and some very aggressive pricing.
The OLED 754 will be available in Harrods and Currys, with a choice of 55- and 65-inch models. It uses a 2018 panel, the 2nd generation P5 processor, and Philips's SAPHI smart platform rather Android (not necessarily a bad thing), but in all other respects, it is feature-packed.

The 754 includes Dolby Vision, HDR10+ , Dolby Atmos and 3-sided Ambilight. If that wasn't enough it also has Amazon Alexa built-in, which you can interact with using the remote or another Alexa speaker (Philips has wisely avoided including far-field microphones). Alexa also interacts with Ambilight, which looks cool.

This new TV looks impressive in demos and, best of all, this model is priced to sell. According to Philips, the 55-inch will initially launch at £1,500 but you can expect aggressive discounting very quickly. The same goes for the 65-inch, and based on Philips's ultimate price point both these screen sizes are sure to prove popular.
