Simaudio MOON Evolution 600i v2 reference amplifier launched
SRP: £6,900.00
Simaudio’s new MOON 600i integrated amplifier is handcrafted in Canada and is intended to please the most demanding of music connoisseurs with a fully differential dual-mono design.
Every component has been carefully selected in pursuit of audio perfection, says the manufacturer, and no corners have been cut in the creation of the 600i. The heatsinks and front panels were tooled from one large aluminium block in Simaudio’s factory, and the capacitors were custom made in Japan. The 600i features the new M-eVOL2 volume control, with all of 530 steps, allowing for an extremely precise level of adjustment.

The MOON 600i v2 is the successor to the original 600i and provides a greater musical insight with increased resolution, bass articulation, detail and soundstage due to the upgrades in the power supply and gain stages, promise Simaudio.

One of the key improvements in the 600i is the use of Simaudio’s new capacitor design. The capacitors were custom made in Japan as part of the development of the ground-breaking MOON 888 mono power amps. MOON output transistors provide tighter and more visceral bass performance, as well as improved linearity throughout the entire frequency spectrum.

The input stage circuit is designed to reduce noise, preserve image focus and integrity, despite ‘only’ being rated at 125W per channel. The "no overall feedback" design promises more accurate musical reproduction with respect to tonality, virtually non-existent IMD and the elimination of common phase errors resulting from feedback.

There’s also a custom proprietary toroidal transformer design with lower magnetic, electrical and thermal loss, yielding an improved power transfer and lower regulation factor - resulting in increased current speed and better dynamics and ‘M-Lock’ for user selectable maximum volume setting lock-out for each line input

The 600i also features an RS-232 port for full unsolicited bi-directional feedback and firmware updates, a 12 Volt trigger output for remote operation and an IR input for external control

All these luxuries don’t come cheap, of course, with the Simaudio Moon 600i retailing for around £6,900.
