Sony announces the European availability of its top-of-the-range 4K HDR Full Array LED.
Available in 5 screen sizes, the XH95 range of LED TVs is ready to ship across Europe now and employs Sony’s top picture and sound technologies.
Coming in 49-, 55-, 65-, 75-, and 85-inches to match a variety of different sized viewing environments, the XH95 models utilize Sony’s Picture Processor X1 Ultimate to deliver technologies such as Object-based Super Resolution, Object-based HDR remaster, Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR and Dual database processing to deliver the best image possible.
In addition, the full array local dimming backlight uses X-tended Dynamic Range PRO technology to provide up to 6 times the contrast of its conventional LED TVs, Sony claims. Plus, starting with the 55-inch model, X-Wide Angle technology ensures the image retains more colour and brightness regardless of where in the room the viewer is positioned.
Sony’s XH95 TVs introduce a new technology called Ambient Optimisation that optimises picture and sound quality in any customer environment. By analysing the ambient light in the room, the picture brightness is automatically boosted in bright rooms or reduced in darker environments to provide the best viewing experience.
The audio side of the TV viewing experience sees Sound-from-Picture Reality give the impression that sound is coming directly from the screen. All models above the 55-inch have improved Acoustic Multi-Audio and the 55-, 65- and 75-inch models feature a bi-amp system whereby the main speaker and invisible tweeter are controlled separately. These three models also see the introduction of a new slimline speaker called the X-Balanced speaker.
Furthermore, Ambient Optimisation means the XH95 can detect objects such as curtains or furniture that affect audio by reflecting or absorbing sound waves and fine-tunes the acoustics to compensate.
Sony’s pursuit of ensuring the creator’s intent is delivered as part of the viewing experience means the XH95 range comes with Netflix Calibrated Mode, which offers studio-quality Netflix content, and IMAX Enhanced, which brings the IMAX Experience into the home.
A new Immersive Edge design is incorporated in the 55-, 65- and 75-inch models which adds to the immersive experience with a sleek, bezel-less look and the discrete stand is now located at the edge of the screen, rendering it barely noticeable. It is, however, two-way adjustable to allow compatibility with different sized TV furniture.
The XH95 range is powered by the Android TV OS and supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, plus a built-in microphone allows for hands free interaction with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa (depending upon country/availability). Simple voice commands can therefore cast and control videos from YouTube with Google Home or change the channel or volume with Amazon Alexa enabled devices.
Compatibility with Apple AirPlay 2 means users can stream movies, TV shows, music and photos to the TV from their iPhone, iPads and Macs while HomeKit allows control over the TV using those same devices.
The XH95 range is available now and the prices are as follows:
