TCL expands product line up at IFA 2019
As a major international electronics company and the world’s second largest manufacturer of televisions, TCL’s expanded range of products on show at this year's IFA could have some TV gems amongst the white goods.
China's TCL promises ‘expanded product ranges’ at IFA and aims to showcase ‘a full range of innovations and smart products,’ from TVs and audio products to smartphones and major home appliances and within those ranges will be a demonstration of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, QLED, mini LED, voice control and more.

The company has been in the tech news frequently during the year, especially with their TV aspirations - they ascended to number two in the global TV manufacturer rankings, became the largest TV retailer in the US, plan to take on LG and Samsung in the Korean TV market and announced their plans for a Quantum Dot / OLED hybrid technology - and look set to capitalise on a successful 2019 by presenting their wares at Berlin’s IFA consumer electronics show which, this year, runs from September 6th-11th.

AVForums spoke to TCL back in January about their 2019 TV plans which included a 75-inch 8K model that uses a mini LED backlight, supports Dolby Vision, is Dolby Atmos capable and promises HDMI 2.1. It will be based on the Roku TV platform in the US and Android TV (Pie) in Europe and could possibly be on show in its final version at IFA.

Back at CES, TCL indicated that having recently joined the HDR10+ initiative, it would be looking to make its European models compatible via a software update, and perhaps their final version 8K models will include provision for both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ in the same way that select Panasonic and Philips 2019 models do.

Taking place annually at its home base in Berlin, IFA is considered a major opportunity for electronics manufacturers to launch new products and announce upcoming plans/innovations.
