High-end home-cinema audio brand, Trinnov has announced that its Altitude32 and Altitude16 processors will receive a free upgrade to DTS:X Pro allowing owners to expand their home theatre audio experience beyond current channel limitations.
Trinnov Audio introduced the Altitude 32 processor back in 2014 and it remains uniquely capable of up to 32 discretely rendered channels for home theatre and, for more modest systems, the Altitude 16 can likewise render 16 discrete channels.
However, the consumer version of the DTS:X object based audio format that allows for audio to be placed in the theatre’s soundstage, only allows for 11.1 discrete channels, usually in the channel format of 7.1.4.
The introduction of DTS:X Pro raises the limit to 30.2 channels, so all new and existing owners of the Altitude32 and Altitude16 processors will finally be able to stretch their devices to the fullest extent (available speakers not withstanding).
The upgrade will be free of charge and require no additional hardware thanks to the sustainable upgradeability of Trinnov’s unique software-based platform and will be via a simple download that is typically completed in under 15 minutes. This places the company and its customers at an advantage as other manufacturers will have to release new products before their customers can experience the benefits that DTS:X Pro brings.
Trinnov will be demoing DTS:X Pro at this year’s ISE show in Amsterdam from 11-14th Feb providing the first public showcase of the system in a 15.3.10 channel configuration. This follows the unveiling of an 11.4.6 DTS:X Pro system at CEDIA 2019, a show aimed more at professional attendees than ISE.
The benefits of the greater number of audio channels is claimed to be a higher degree of spatial resolution and greater immersion, in addition to providing much greater consistency of sound among all the seats in the listening environment.
