Trinnov to premiere DTS:X Pro at CEDIA Expo 2019

DTS:X jumps to 32 channels in the home - depending upon hardware

French company, Trinnov Audio will be bringing an 11.4.6 audio channel set up featuring DTS:X Pro technology to its demo area at the upcoming CEDIA Expo 2019.
A renowned manufacturer of reference audio processors for home theatres, high-end Hi-Fi, professional audio and commercial cinemas, Trinnov is the first company to bring DTS:X Pro technology to home theatres with its Altitude32 and Altitude16 processors. It will use the opportunity afforded by CEDIA Expo 2019 to stage the North American premiere of the expanded surround technology from DTS.

DTS:X is an object-based audio format that allows audio to be treated as a discrete object and placed in the soundstage, even from above. The consumer version only allows for 11.1 channels but a software update to the version used in professional setups will enable the Trinnov Altitude audio products to take advantage of a greater number of audio channels.

DTS:X Pro includes support for up to 30.2 separate speaker outputs and has the capability to scale dynamically depending upon the source material and output configuration. Channel-based content is distributed appropriately to all connected speakers and audio objects are rendered to precise locations, all using the DTS Neural:XTM up-mixer which is included in the DTS:X Pro package

Current owners of the Altitude16 and Altitude32 processors can upgrade with a free software update which will enable access to the full array of DTS:X capabilities allowing enjoyment of the higher spatial resolution allowed by using all of the speakers connected to their systems. The Altitude32 remains the only available consumer unit that can render up to 32 discrete audio channels and the DTS:X Pro upgrade will expand the possibilities for home cinema enthusiasts. Both the Altitude32 and Altitude16 benefit from Trinnov’s patented technologies, including Trinnov’s Speaker/Room Optimizer and 2D/3D loudspeaker remapping.

Arnaud Laborie, Trinnov’s CEO, commented, “Trinnov has been collaborating with the DTS team since 2014, leading to the first public demo of DTS:X at CES 2015 on an Altitude32 processor."

He continued, "Our unique software-based platform consistently enables us to release new formats before other high-end home cinema processors, which means that our design allows us to deliver the latest technologies to our customers at their earliest availability. This was the case with DTS:X, and by continuing to work closely with DTS, we are now very pleased to be able to introduce DTS:X Pro, as the first licensee of this technology.”

The Trinnov demo at CEDIA will feature an 11.4.6 immersive audio setup in partnership with Control4/Triad speakers and will take place in a custom-built acoustical environment. The company will be supporting this exhibition with a special course on Immersive Audio on Sep 13th which will cover immersive sound formats and recommended speaker layouts plus practical implementation of a real-world project.

The company will also be supporting other exhibitors with their Altitude processors and Amplitude amplifiers including Kaleidescape, PMC loudspeakers and Wisdom loudspeakers.

Taking place from 10-14th September in Denver Colorado, the CEDIA Expo 2019 will bring together over 500 exhibitors in an opportunity for technology companies to unveil the latest in residential and custom connected technologies. It affords tech professionals exposure to the latest developments and innovations along with networking and training opportunities.
