Did anyone else from the Forum visit this show?

It’s great being able to show off new toys to thousands of hifi lovers in one place and this seems to be one of the best organised events in the country. Apparently, there were 3,000 – 4,000 over the two days, many of whom looked to have the funds to buy a great system.

The photo shows what The Danish Audio Company were demonstrating. This was to illustrate that full range speakers can give optimal results from a relatively affordable one box amp even with speakers against the walls with RoomPerfect.

Apparently it was one of the busiest rooms at the show with all 12 seats filled most of the time, often by listeners who returned again and again for a reality check.

Many people commented it was one of the best sounding rooms and that it sounded great throughout the room and even in the hallway.

Another thing that was mentioned was that in the rooms where large speakers were used, they were typically placed 6 feet away from rear walls in an effort to stop boominess…. but most still had obviously problems in their low-end performance because of room modes.

Aside from people loving the sound of both systems the biggest problem was people constantly walking up to the B&W speakers because they couldn’t believe it wasn’t these playing and that it was the little MH2 speakers with BW2’s.

If anyone from this Forum visited, it would be great if you could share your feedback here.

This is the only feedback from a Forum member I’m aware of so far

“First time I heard the Lyngdorf equipment was at the weekends show. Have to agree it was best in show by a considerable margin, even against systems there costing hundreds of thousands! (a lot of which sounded terrible).

The ability of the small sub sat system to fill the large room (appx 7m x 6m) was staggering….. sounded great with both the bw 803 and the Lyngdorf sub sat system.
Very tempted, but need to know the best way forward and to how to integrate into my system-need movies and music and have 2 active subs, 5.4.2 system.”

I admit it’s not the best looking room at the show......first time exhibitor.
I will make sure next year there is more thought in the design of the room, there is so much more I want to do, decor wise I mean as there is no need for acoustic treatment, it is not necessary as the amplifiers have room correction that perfectly tunes the system to the room it is being used in.

Thanks to everyone that stopped by, it was great to meet you all, and the positive feedback you gave me was overwhelming for this first timer.

“ I was super impressed by the sound of the room also – the room EQ was pretty incredible!”
Antony Bunn-Major - Innuos.

It makes it all feel worth the effort and long journey to get such great feedback.

Steve..........part of what I like about your dem is that it sounds great with the system being just plonked in a room.

There are a tiny number of people who will dedicate a room for listening and everyone else at the show caters to this market with speakers sat 1-2m into the room.

The market for people who want great sound without it dominating a room has to be 100x's bigger and you illustrated this is possible.

All I'd change is some better lighting, the odd plant to make it look even more like a dentists reception and using more discrete cables.

Apparently speaker cable is available in white!!!!!!!
