I have my BT router upstairs in office from main socket. Question is can I put the broadband back into the wall via the phone socket and then plug in the PC downstairs into the wall phone socket to get the broadband?

Thanks

Sort of...
You can route the telephone signal back down a spare pair and install the router elsewhere, but you cannot route your ethernet connection, as the cable will not be rated for the type of signal and probably won't have enough spare pairs.

Powerline adapters might be a better route.
