Yup, this movie made the girls in my house very happy so gets a +1 from me too.Totally agree with the review... Suffice to say that the movie gains a +1 in my house as I have 3 young girls and, whilst I didn't expect it, there was most definitely a glint in their eyes to see such a powerful woman on screen who has a relatable and fully fleshed out personality.
I agree but the funny thing is that some women reportedly find her totally un-relatable.Totally agree with the review... I've had this for a few weeks now but never got around to watching it, especially as I saw the film twice at the cinema (comparing cinema sound systems). It didn't seem to have Aquaman levels of LFE but there were some good effects. So I'm curious now to hear this incredible bass....Disney and incredible bass? Never ever did I expect to read that in the same sentence!!!
OK now I'm really curious....The space stuff in particular is stunning and the effects work on Captain Marvel are spectacularly good. Making human figures fly convincingly seems to be one of the big challenges for effects houses, especially if there's no cape or other flowing fabric involved but this works perfectly.
7 out of 10 for the movie is awfully generous. I wouldn't rate it higher than 5 myself. It's not terrible; the second act is quite watchable, and Samuel L Jackson is always good in anything; but Brie Larson isn't a very engaging heroine - she's too wooden - the plot feels like something you've seen 20 times already, and the third act, frankly, reminds me of that line in Macbeth: "Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
I'm all in favour of films with strong female leads, but this simply isn't a particularly good film, regardless of its girl-power pretensions. It's not as bad as Iron Man 2 or Thor: The Dark World, but it comes close.
Yes, my missus didn't like her at all, didn't find her engaging as a character and rolls her eyes with all the girl power / "me-too" stuff of late. Samuel L Jackson was very good and the de-aging tech is really convincing. Was an OK entry for me, so might rent rather than buy this one.I agree but the funny thing is that some women reportedly find her totally un-relatable.
This was good looking but not great looking at the cinema so obviously HDR doing its magic.Enjoyed it with that buddie road movie approach and feel between Larson n big Sam . Thought Brie played the straight man role pretty well spot on bouncing off Sam J wise cracks . Looked gorgeous and sounded great .

Just curious who would you have put in the role & why would they have been not miscast or even better if you like ...?Captain Miscast sounds more apt lol
