Thanks for the review Cas. You've got me tempted now! I've always thought the cinematography in Casino was incredible, and the musical integration is fabulous. Great review, cheers

Excellent review Cas.

Completely agree, cinematography is stunning and thanks to the WCG really does shine. The in film camera flashes are blinding.
I only had a chance to watch 10 mins (ended up watching 50) on the way out the door and was delighted to see a fantastic restore (was concerned as I’ve seen no reviews at all - good job getting it out so quick).

I do think this is Marty’s best film, the actors are on top form, script, editing, cinematography, ridiculous over the top overhead lighting all add up to give you an absolute classic.

Looking forward to giving this the time it deserves later this week.

Thanks again Cas, think based on that review I have to pick this up now!

This review has tempted me to watch the movie for the 1000000000 time! Not going to buy though, I am very selective now on what I buy. It’s going in the rental list on 4K of course

Thanks for the review, this has been dispatched and I should receive tommorrow. Probably my fave Scorsese flick, which for me just pips Goodfellas, and of course also features a Scorsese regular Frank Vincent ( R.I.P , has so many memorable scenes, and a career high for Stone, who proves she can do more than just uncross her legs...glad this has turned out the 4k Blu-ray is top notch, shame about the extras another missed opportunity

Great review, Cas and as much as I enjoy Casino, it'll never topple my favourite ever film - GoodFellas off the top of my list.

Thanks for the Review Cas. Probably more a rental for me, but still not to be missed.

Only seen Casino the once and found it horribly disappointing, this was many many years ago, I’ll try and pick it up in the classifieds and give it a second chance, entirely based on your review cas.;)

Back in 1995 I think that I was too young to fully appreciate this. It was Goodfellas all the way for me, just leaner and more gritty. But I've definitely, reluctantly, grown to see the genius at work here. I think I'll always prefer Last Temptation of Christ, that's just a personal fave, but this is some perfectionist work from all involved.

Watched it for the first time with the boss (who said "it can't be one of your favourite films, otherwise you'd have made me watch it already" - which shows how my feelings towards it have changed over the last 10-15 years) and she couldn't get any response out of me for the first 40+ minutes, other than giddy wide-eyed comments like "look at what he does with this shot, as the camera pans and De Niro turns his head to follow the line of sight" or "look at De Niro's face when Stone asks him for an extra bill at the beginning, with the camera batting forth between them and the roll of money."

Kid in a candy store (which also sells Hot Wheels cars for a penny).

Defo give it another shot, hopefully it'll grow on you.

Thanks Cas,

That’s some more money parted with :rotfl:

What a film. It went through some atrocious home video treatments. Will never, ever forget the baseball meets head (a lot) scene. Walking Dead thought by making it more graphic made it's scene better. It wasn't. As so many times, less is sometimes more.

Stone was amazing in this. A real "Erin Brockovich" moment before Roberts made it famous.

It's not Goodfella's 2 which is what many I think were expecting so it's didn't get the same love. But as Cas' above post said, give it a second chance and get that other film out of your head.

One of my favourite ever movies.

I've always been amazed that this is not available on iTunes in the UK, hopefully with this release they put this right.....

Casino was displayed 2 nights ago - in all of her 4K deliciousness, and what a treat it was too!

And.. with moreover classic movies on the brink of release, 25 years and over. 4k UHD, just shows what it can do for a movie like Casino for it's age and others alike.

Great review, Cas. Spot on!

I have not seen this since i had it on Laserdisc... could be time to re-watch

Saw it at the pictures on first release and have loved it ever since.
A definite visual and auditory treat with a story that interweaves itself back and forth not in an annoying way - which is a feat and treat of late..
Cheers for the headsup of 4K bluie, Cas.

Thanks Cas. A 10 for me equally as good as Goodfellas

What a great surprise. Had no idea this was releasing on 4K. One of my favourite films of all time. Seen it so many times but happy to see it again in glorious 4K and DTS:X sound. Its hard to choose between this and Goodfelllas as my favourite as there both so good.

I always wanted to love Casino but never could. I was obsessed with Goodfellas at the time and so when I saw Casino at the Cinema it came across as a disappointment. You don’t care for the characters in the same way you cared for them in Goodfellas. Once in a while I always watch Casino to see if my feelings have changed but they never do, maybe it will grow on me with time.
