So after finishing redecorating our bedroom, we’re looping back to the first room we did and Mrs.T has chosen the grey for the ceiling ! ...Valspar Soft Panther.

i think it will work 😉. The purple is staying on the screen wall but the pale warm grey will be replaced with something deeper.

The old 4:3 motorised screen is going and making way for a 2.4:1 fixed screen a la @KelvinS1965 with the 65” Sony being taken off the wall and mounted on a motorised lift and will rise from a slim box to be constructed around it.

The Epson will get its low-profile ceiling mount and snuggle up to the back of the bay window. New PerfectFit motorised blackout roller blinds will see to the light levels.

Some slimline kitchen wall units will be floated into the alcoves either side of the fireplace, with B&Q dark grey kitchen cabinet doors and (matching end panel) top - which will also be used to clad the tv cabinet ... alcoves to be taken a couple of warm grey shades darker and painted Valspar Crested Lark.

something to keep me occupied for the next couple of months 🙂

So more painting over last couple of weeks ... filling and skimming ceiling where ceiling rose was ... made wooden reinforcing plate between joists for low-profile PJ mount to hang from ... test fit for tv lift ... built the PerfectFit motorised blackout blinds in the factory and fitted them ... and today managed to get the new scope screen built and fitted 🙂

What screen is that?

Loving it matey, nice work and liking that grey colour, it's the one thing I'm struggling with colour now, as we start my customer doubel garage conversion tomorrow, but the colours are something I keep going around and around in my head with...

Thanks ... am pleased with the Valspar Soft Panther (dark grey) on the ceiling and their Crested Lark (a dark/neutral taupe) on the main wall and alcoves is working well ... we’ve also painted the skirting, architrave and window cill in Valspar RAL Anthracite Grey equivalent - which further tones down the room and matches the powder coated aluminium windows nicely too 🙂

I also got some Plasticote Matt black cellulose and sprayed the Atmos Gallo Micro surrounds and swapped the white Micros for some black ones (4 x white Micros heading to the classifieds soon!) ... am pleased with how they came out and have also sprayed the Epson low-profile PJ shroud so that will blend into the ceiling too ... oh and got some black versions of the dimmable LED spotlights so they blend in as well ! ... the iPhone has really made the ceiling colour look much lighter than it is against the black of the mounts ☹️

Got the 65” Sony mounted back on the lift too so next job is carpentry to build the tv cupboard for it to majestically rise from 😱

@jont

Just tried dropping you a PM mate but your inbox is full...

What do you think of the spitfire screen as I’m tempted to get one at that price - not expecting Seymour standards but if it’s of a good quality I may take a punt!!

Many thanks

I'm impressed by the screen myself - for me its a big improvement over my very old, third-hand motorised 4:3 one ! ... The frame section (of the Premier and my wrong-sized Mk2 Essentials) is quite substantial - the Premier is a one-piece 100mm section, the Mk2 is a two-piece 75mm section. The black felt/velour covering is v solid and impactful although it will collect dust/lint/etc when building so keep it clean ... wall mountings are simple brackets at the top and a locking (Premier) / screw-in (Mk2) bracket at the bottom ... screen tension is good with approx 20+ springs on long edges and 10+ on the sides ... for the current price I think they can't be beaten and even at full price I think they will leave a gap in the screen market ... only took 48 hours to come too which I was impressed at.

Which TV lift are you using? Mrs wants to hide ours when not in use

First fix of the B&Q kitchen wall cabinets in the alcoves ... 2 x 60cm cupboards per alcove was a perfect fit ! ... just selecting the right worktop to go ... will use matching doors/panels to clad the box around the tv/lift 🙂

8C9A81E0-D464-4CB0-A8A9-EB533CE8657D.jpeg D21FE1FC-CBCD-4B0B-A28F-CEF6BDBCF680.jpeg 8159B039-9659-4148-81AB-2D29643C312A.jpeg

So best worktop ended up being IKEA ! ... had the surprise benefit of being edged on all four sides so one length did both alcove tops *and* the top for the tv lift box with manufactured front and side edging - so only one for me to cut and apply which won’t be facing the entrance to the room ... lovely Matt black, slightly non-slip finish, and a better proportion 28mm depth than the 38mm B&Q one - and a third of the price of B&Q !

So next job is to build the frame for the tv lift box and order the first of the GIK custom artwork acoustic panels :)

Sometimes you can future-proof too much !

When we had extension done I laid 4 x twin-shotgun coax cables from satellite dish to each viewing room - initially to feed Sky HD boxes and have a FreeSat option ... spent this morning trying to trace which pair terminated in the AV 'understairs' cupboard so I could move the SkyQ box into there and have UHD fed to the Lumagen and Epson PJ/4K Sony ...

Annoyed I didn't put a piece of coloured PVC tape on each end when they were fitted but job was made substantially easier with this from Amazon: Aerials, Satellites and Cables Coax Cable Tester - 100m Range

So looking forward to faux-K F1 this weekend on the big, big screen :)

So - finally made the decisions on my photos for the acoustic panels :) ... six bands that both Mrs T and I thoroughly enjoy, I have taken all the shots myself (officially with photo pass) in a variety of venues in and around London including Wembley Arena and have met them all (some many times over) !

We have, in no particular order: Black Stone Cherry, Broken Witt Rebels, Cadillac Three, Temperance Movement, Wayward Sons and Blackwater Conspiracy.

I have many other shots from other bands, some much better, but wanted to reflect our musical taste for the room that we listen to music *and* watch movies and concerts (and reminisce :-(.

For those that are interested I went with GIK Acoustics 242 panels - and they will arrive in approx 10 days - so another few pics when they are up ;-) ... v pleasant firm to deal with and some useful advice ... they are also refunding any Black Friday discount that would have come my way if I'd waited a couple more weeks to order - but then possibly run the risk of not having them in for xmas !

And at last snagged an Arcam P429 last week so the rack has diminished in height and heat output :) ... a well cared for P7 will be heading to the classifieds soon :)

So that’s the first GIK panel back and up on the wall 🙂 ... Toby Jepson (Wayward Sons and ex-Little Angels) seems to think Danny Core of the Broken Witt Rebels is in the rightful place
😂😎🤘📸
