Electrician question

It rather depends on which way your joists run and how easy it is to access from above.

Joists run the correct way which will enable me to move it along, the only issue was if it was correct what I was saying. Such as buying one of these along with this cable to extend the feed enabling me to move it along.

Can you access the ceiling void, or is it floorboarded above?
Floor boards above mate. And carpet on top. I've just checked the light fitting and it's as attached. Plus new fitting connections attached and where it would be being moved too.

It looks as if the existing cables might reach?

If not, as you'll have to make good the existing hole, I would use a Ashley J804. Its maintenance free, with cable grips.

Make sure you safely isolate, and note your wire positions. I've read so many threads, where people have got themselves in a pickle, putting up new lights.

The red wires are live feeds, yellow is the switched live (mark it with red tape), the two blacks and blue are neutrals. I take it all works etc? Your new fitting requires an earth, which you need to verify is ok. That's the wires in the yellow/green sleeving, which you'll need to replace if using the J804.

You'll also need to verify you have a joist to fix to in your new position.

Why not add it to the list, for the electrician to do?

Hey, see attached. Just need a new bulb as I dropped it upon putting in. Doh and floor still to be sorted.
