Dear Friends

I am an owner of Epson EH-TW5300 and I am interested in Epson EH-TW7100 or EH-TW7000. I will use it only for UHD movies, Netflix, Disney+, gaming on PS4 Pro (UHD HDR) and in the future PS5 (UHD HDR). My room is dark with dimensions 12m2, I have 102" from 3m on my EH-TW5300 at the moment. I would like to ask few questions:

1. EH-TW7000 blacks are similar to EH-TW5300, or it would be noticeable better? Should I consider EH-TW7100 in this case?
2. Will 4K and HDR effect will be noticeable? Much better then EH-TW5300 in 1080p (My wife's question).
3. What will be an input lag for 4K and 4K HDR in gaming?
4. Will it be louder when using normal mode then EH-TW5300 on eco mode?
5. Other projector to consider? My max budget is the price of EH-TW7100.

Thank you in advance for your help and support.

Sincerely

What does 12m2 dimensions mean?

What does dark room mean? What color are the walls?

For good blacks the walls have to be treated for reflections:

1. If the walls are treated, there will be a relatively improvement with the TW7000/7100. These two have about the same contrast, the TW7100 is just brighter.
If the walls are not treated, the difference will be smaller since the reflections will wash out the better blacks.

2.If fed a 4K HDR source it will look better.
One component of HDR is WCG (wide color gamut). The TW7000 only covers a small part of it.
The TW7400, TW9400, Benq W2700 do. This is done with a filter that cuts light output dramatically, but with an 102" screen it should be fine.

3. Input lag on the TW7000 is 20-30ms. If you want lower, there are none in 4K.
1080p models can go as low as 8ms.

4. Noise opinions on websites reviews vary, so it's unclear. But the TW7000/7100 are quiet in Eco mode, and bright enough to be used in that lamp mode.

Dear noob0101

What does 12m2 dimensions mean?

What does dark room mean? What color are the walls?

12m2 = 3 metres x 4 metres. There are no natural lights and the walls are dark violet. Maximum display in this room will be c.a. 102".

So in this case, is it better to buy cheaper EH-TW7000 or EH-TW7100?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

The TW7000 would be fine.

For a discussion between the TW7000 (HC3200 US) and TW7100 (HC3800 US) in regards to contrast follow Dave in Green's interaction in this post and after:

There will be an issue in that the throw range might not allow for 102".

Use this link for measurements.

Product dimensions
410‎ x 310 x 157 mm (Width x Depth x Height)

400cm - 31cm (PJ) - 10cm (cables) = 359cm

You might be able to get 100".

A projector with a shorter range will not have an iris, and probably worse blacks, and less bright.
Options:
Optoma UHD50/51/51A/300x/350x
The Benq W2700 has an iris, but it's over budget.

The Optomas and Benq above are DLP, and some people are susceptible to RBE (rainbow effect). You have to see a DLP projector to know if you're affected.

(What color is the ceiling and floor)?

These projector modes don't have great blacks and the walls being dark a projector capable of better blacks could work.

Unfortunately in the 1K$ range there are few options.
It boils down to used/refurbished units. Doubt any 4K units available.

Options would be the Sony HW40/45/50/55/65, Epson TW9100/9200/9300, and older JVC.

Buying used comes with a risk if there is no warranty.
The Sony's have had issues with panel degradation and lamp flickering (more than usual), but many people are happy and their units are fine.
Older JVC's lamp's are expensive and dim quicker.

If you want good blacks and buying used is not an option, and if the budget would be increased there are just a few options still:
Sony HW45/65 - even with the reduced price for Black Friday it's expensive, and it's still an older 1080p unit.
Epson TW9400 - great unit, but over budget.

Both the Sony and the Epson are larger and the screen would probably be around 90".

Dear noob0101

There will be an issue in that the throw range might not allow for 102".

There is dedicated Epson Europe Support for Throw Distance (link below). Just choose Home Projectors and then EH-TW7100/EH-TW7000 and set 3 m distance from display. It wil say, that it's possible to have 102" in this distance.

(What color is the ceiling and floor)?

White ceiling (2.55 m height) and on the floor oak wood panels, but partialy covered with dark brown carpets.

Epson TW9400 - great unit, but over budget.

Yeah, it would be great, but it's not wife resistant ;) EH-TW7400 would also be great, the price is comparable to EH-TW7100, but it's not 18Gbps and I need it to 4K@60 for PS4 Pro, PS5, PC.

Thank you in advance for your fast reply and support.

Dear Friends

I have a problem and cannot decide for one option.

Meanwhile there appears another option to buy LED TV Sony KD-65XG9505 or QLED TV Samsung QE65Q80RAT, but it will be 65" from 2,5 metres or EH-TW7100 (HC3800)/EH-TW7000 (HC3200) with 102" from 3 metres.

Which options should provide better for PS4 Pro, PS5, UHD BD with 4K HDR signal? What would you choose from this 4 devices?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Sincerely

I'm struggling to find a ceiling mount for my 7100. Can anyone in the UK recommend one? I don't want to spend more than £50. Thanks Lads.
