I am currently looking to pick up a 2nd hand TW9300 (wanted thread in Projector Classifieds) - But I have a question following on from a fellow (very nice) Forum member who enlightened me about the HDMI Frequency issue with the TW9300 and using PS4 (and probably PS5) and Xbox one (and probably Series X) and expecting 4k HDR from either source - It doesn't work (backed up by reviews etc.) and the same issue occurs with Sky Q running 4K Images I hear..

The Question is.. If using a TW9300 and running all devices via a Marantz NR 1710 AV Receiver (or any AV Receiver I guess) will that solve the issue regarding the HDMI (as the Marantz is a middle man if you will) or have I completely missed the point with this particular projectors issues on HDMI?

ADDITIONAL - THE ISSUE RE SKY Q IS YOU LOSE THE ABILITY TO USE 2160/10 BIT AND CAN ONLY USE 2160/8 BIT WITH THE TW9300 - THE ISSUE WITH PS AND XB IS PS WILL ONLY ALLOW HDR AT LOWER RES AND NEITHER GAMES MACHINE WILL RUN HDR AT 60FPS ETC...

It won’t work properly. The projector isn’t capable of it, the hdmi input is capable of carrying more data on the 9400 so you can run it at 4K 60hz with hdr, but the 9300 won’t do it. It will do it at 24hz which is fine for films but not gaming. It’s the reason I never bought a 9300. Sorry but you’re going to have to spend more and get yourself a 9400 instead!

The capabilities of the ‘middle man’ has no affect on the capabilities of the HDMI Input on the projector.

Some Display devices with a limited feature set can be ‘fooled’ into accepting non-natively supported signals using specialised ‘middle men’ from the likes of HDFury but that is not going to help with the EH-TW9300.

Time for a rethink.
