Focal Kanta No2 Floorstanding Speaker Review & Comments

Thanks Ed, I owned a pair of these for a few months and totally agree with your conclusion. Although I enjoyed their sound, I was not enamoured with their looks so I ended up upgrading to the Sopra's when I had an offer I could not refuse. The Kanta's are brilliant speakers, their stereo imaging is precise but they are not forgiving to the source.

Proper hardcore porn. Explicit. Even the name Kanta is bit , you know what.

Blimey, I'm sure they sound lovely but boy they look like look like they felt out of the ugly tree and were hit with a mallet on the way down. :)

I actually like design, but those ugly feet ruin it. That said, it's irrelevant to me as they are about 10 times the price of anything I would buy...

Not sure what their designer/s is/are on but they ought to stop taking it. I thought the standmounts were ugly now we have these.

Having seen them in the flesh, IMHO they look much better "in the real" than they do in the photos, but they're certainly different

I like the look of them, but there again I once bought a Ford Cougar based on looks alone. They would certainly match the plastering on the walls in my living room.

As a former Cougar owner I can sympathise, but I guess that's what happens when you buy a car which was based on a model called the Probe!!

Kanta's are the ugliest of all Focal speakers. The Sopra's are sexy but Kanta's are like a genetic anomaly. And the feet are even worse. It's like looking at a woman with size 11 feet

Well, clearly stung by you all being mean about them, Focal has released two new finishes.

in terms of speed, maybe its the naim amp on the kanta 1 who let the cambridge audio driven kanta 2 sound slower.

I found a secondhand pair of Kanta 2 on a local forum and eagerly snapped them up. Innuos Zen 3, Allegri+ preamp and PS Audio M700 power amps. This system sings magnificently and I'm super happy. Wide open, fast and with excellent texture. Ed's review I thought was excellent, but I'd love to hear them via Naim, Cambridge, PS Audio and Moon amps in one room to be able to tell exactly how much the amp changes things.
