Hi all . I am planning on building a 32x52x12 garage with 18x32x12 of it will be a dedicated theater room. In-between the garage and theater will be an arcylic glasswall separated with (4) 4x8 panels so I can see my cars. I plan on having 3 theater seats on a riser in back and a sectional that wraps around in front. Also a pool table right at the french doors. So open doors see pool table and then riser for seats and then front of that sectional . And wait for it....180" screen.

I plan to get the Klipsch rp 280 bundle with ceiling speakers for 11.2.4. On Amazon. Adding 2 more subs to make it 11.4.4
Is this too much speaker/subwoofers for this size room. And will the Denon 6400 handle this. Be getting an optoma hd60

have read on here how to make 3d passive with 2 projectors. Has anyone done this .Because I want this . Any info will be appreciated .Thank you .

Can’t answer your questions, except you can never have too many speakers.
Just wanted to say love your build and we like nothing than a good build on AVF so keep the photos coming.

hi all. sorry about not posting in a while. been busy with new baby, work, and garage. here are some new pictures of the garage so far. i am trying to implement what i said on the first post about the projectors now. it will be with a motorized lift of some sort so it wont be inline with the 4k projector at 25ft.

Thanks for the update - coming along nicely!

Are you doing the work yourself?

Myself and a friend that comes help most Sundays for a few hours. Just after work and sundays.

Nice space. How are you covering the glass when your showing a film?

I like the way you pelmet is constructed. Have you got any details or pictures? Looks like a 2x3 or 2x4 header piece, vertical supports attached to the lower piece supporting the pelmet? And then have you used MDF or plasterboard?

Im just having corner round to hold the plexiglass in place and silicone it. Covering the glass. I don't know yet but if I have to with curtains but id rather not just to see the cars. But the garage part will be dark. I'll cover the two windows with black curtains and the light from the garage door with something.
Not sure what pelmet is. Thanks

You’ll get huge rejections from the glass though, especially if it’s dark the other side.
Pelmet er maybe you’d call it soffit? The wood around the ceiling edges.

The tray ceilings. Thanks. Yes I'll be putting led lighting all around that and have mdf. Those were heavy and a pain. Lol. But they are up there.

What do mean rejections from the glass. That a bad thing. I haven't done this before but wanted to see my cars from the other side.

Looks great but the glass is gonna cause major issues with audio performance.

Also noted you were planning on 11.4.4 speaker layout. What processor are you thinking for this?

Can you explain more on the glass wall. About sound and what not. Want to learn more.
Denon 11 channel and some amplifiers. Thanks

Ok, so think of sound waves moving in all directions, they’ll bounce off objects, walls, etc.

Glass causes huge amount of reverb time (bad) for sound waves. Sound hitting this will just bounce all over the place and cause echos, making your sound very muddy and dialogue unclear.

You need to treat these with acoustic absorption, easiest option for you maybe some very thick curtains covering the glass when watching movies.

You also won’t be able to have the amount of speakers you’re hoping for with the denon, it only has 11 channels of processing, so would be able to do 7.4.4 or 9.4.2 absolute maximum.

update the garage. did the trim. ordered the plexiglass because glass is expensive.

Looking really awesome, but that glass wall is a cinemas absolute nightmare (for many reasons).

Are you planning on putting curtains in front of them?

If I have to I will. Wanted to watch a movie or play games and see my cars lol.

I’d say watching movies will be a no no. You’ll get too much reflection off the glass and it will kill your contrast.

your room is actually too good for that.

You’ll probably need some black velvet curtains that have been lined (they’ll help reduce speaker reflection points also).

But they’re an easy add on after the event. See how you go first.

Examples of curtains in my room. Please note that all pictures ALL of my lights were on.

No curtains drawn:

Believe it or not my carpet is black.

nice setup Thank you i will let yall know once i do the floor and carpet.

Hi all. Got most things in. Calibrated with audessy. And my back surrounds and side surrounds ceiling speakers and subs in the rear are low in volumn. But the main speakers are loud. I followed calibration on the Denon 6400. Am I doing it wrong. The sound is good to me. But to someone that knows sounds probably not.
