I can understand why Corbyn wants to reduce the voting age to 16.

- When I was 16, I was more commie then Che Chavez :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

How many 16 year olds have mortgages, rent, bills, PT jobs, roof over their responsibilities and understand our fiscal system and in how the world works.

If only 27% of the (18-25) voted in the last EU ref and would 16 year olds even bother to vote in the forthcoming GE.

They have other things to keep them occupied like playing XBOX LIVE or sending naked selfies in snapchat

frankly I find the idea of 16-17 year olds voting offensive.

They have tried it before and it flopped.
Oh they can join the armed forces one snowflake said to me.
I replied * Hey dumbass, they can but they're not allowed on the front lines* :)

Bojo can throw in how many gaffs he likes, he will still win.

The queen is shapeshifter
Corbyn is an alien
The earth is flat
Soubry has more than one braincell
Ed Balls can dance better than Michael Jackson
Jackie Stallone is better looking than Sophie Loren
Lady Gaga is a man
And William Shakespeare was a black dude! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have 2 daughters not far sort of 16 and i'd trust their opinions and vote more than yours given the utter nonsense you've posted today

There are good arguments for and against extending the voting franchise, but they should be investigated and debated in a considered manner - not rushing through a change in 2 days to simply give electoral advantage to one side of the argument.

Remoaner no doubt :)

Bojo got stopped dead when he tried to rush something through in 3 days.

On the debating front, Boris has been doing it all his life since Uni. If he brings half of what he has to the dispatch box he will do very well in my opinion.
The dispatch box he's only done one PMQ since he's been PM why do you think that is.
I think he will get destroyed in a live debate.
I don't even think he will turn up if there was one

The thing that works in Bojo favor is that is so unpredictable.
You know what you will get from Corbyn, more Citizen Kane, more national this or that or more math lessons for Abbot :) :)

Why.
At 16 you can leave home go to work pay tax have sex legally 17 you can drive.
I know 20-30-40-50-60-70 years olds that vote and havent got a clue.
Works well apparently in Scotland

Yep, there are 16 year olds (and younger) out there who have to support households for one reason or another. Act more like adults than some adults.

So generalising that all 16 year olds just shouldn't vote is nonsense.

Worlds apart eh? When I was 16 absolutely everyone to a man, ahem, boy was Tory and it was just a matter of how right wing. Now we're in our 40's and although we do have 1 Tory MP from our year the people I've met at reunions etc are seriously mellowed in their views and much more likely to vote Libdem or Labour;

Personally I'd rather have 16 year olds valued in society and made part of the decision making process than ignored and treated as "children".

If they're old enough to ruin their future by being responsible for their exams they are old enough to help elect a government which will do the same thing.

For those who think 16 year olds aren't up for the job, well should we have intelligence tests for 75 year olds to make sure they're not too senile to vote? Why stop there, why not a general knowledge test for the population before they can vote?

As to an election. It's a great boon for Boris to get out of being held responsible for his behavior, but a second referendum on the same day as an election is the best idea I've heard mentioned.

Here is the thing, your view of the world at 16 is a lot different to when you're 25 , 35 or grumpy me at 48 LOL!

Corbyn of course understands that at such a young age you're going to more socialist in thinking.

You don't need a brain/reasoning to leave home or have sex. As for driving, why do you think insurance companies charge them £2.5K+

This all comes down too, are 16 years old wise enough to elect?
18-25 turn out was very low in the EU ref, when I asked one *Why didn't you vote?*
He replied *What for?*

I totally agree.

If old folks can be stupid and dumb, young folks can be clever and forward thinking.
Just because you have silver hair does not make you Einstein overnight.

18, ( Above 17 years, 10 months to be precise) I believe is the right voting age.

Next they will be asking prisoners from our beautiful HRH system to have the vote..... :)

Crooks voting for crooks.. how inappropriate ;-)

Again I'd let those locked up vote. Some of them are innocent anyway, and the majority of them will get out and want to be part of society again, at least for a while.

I knew a couple of lads from my heyday that had the pleasure of HRH majesty service.
They said, they learned and honed there crimes to perfection more inside than outside.
Of course, they got caught again so that was a load of BS :)

Probably Lib Dem. I hate to say. Don't like the idea of them thinking it is okay to overturn the result of a democratic process. I'm just sick of two party politics.

Z list celebrities will now be lining up with respective parties.

Corbyn will have Danny Dyer
Bojo will have Cookie Monster
Farage will have Juncker
Krankie will have Sooty & Sweep
And Lib Dems will have Vince Cable :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You can leave home but only with an adults permission.

You can have sex at 16, you can't watch others do it on a film.

You can drive at 17 but insurance is massive.

Most things like buying knives or fireworks have gone up. There's as many arguments for raising the age as lowering them.

BBC News - Should the UK be raising rather than lowering the voting age?

As Prof Cowley also points out, the age at which we are allowed to do lots of other things has not been going down, but up.

If you want to use a tanning booth, buy cigarettes or fireworks, or get a tattoo you now need to be 18. It seems odd to suggest that people are responsible enough to vote at 16, but not buy sparklers.

If any of these amendments pass then the bill is being pulled. May need to archive this thread at some point tonight! :rotfl:
