Hi folks,
Hope you're all well!
I've been on a gaming hiatus for a few years now (due to the distraction of getting into photography), and now I want back in.
I'm pretty much exclusively an Xbox/COD kind of gamer.
I need to buy/upgrade kit, and have some questions if I may...
New Monitor - I'm due an upgrade. This new monitor will be used for Xbox(X) gaming, photo editing & for connecting laptop when working from home.
After a bit of research, it looks like most decent gaming-friendly monitor also have good colour gamut specs too, which is good and covers my two key needs.
I also need the new monitor to have a USB-C port (for display & power), and this is where I am struggling to find a monitor that meets all this and my other requirements.
And I am looking to see if there are areas that can be compromised. So the gaming/Xbox related questions thereon are:
Oh, and for some context & perspective - I love playing COD - I would say my skill level at my peak could be described as 'pretty good' - and I like to take any advantage I can get (good headset, pro controller, etc)... onto the monitor questions...
- Refresh rate - Do I really need to go above 60 Hz? is there any/much advantage to using say 120 or 144 Hz monitors? I've watched some vids, but wondering real world, is it a game-changer from a gaming perspective.
- Response Time - is 5ms (GTG) ok? Going from 1ms (gaming spec) to 5ms does open up a lot more monitor choices
...these are the main questions really.
For reference, and/or in case anyone has any recommendations, here are my key requirements for a monitor:
Nice-to-haves:
Thanks much.
