Thanks Cas, glad you reviewed this little gem of a show.;)

Binged my way through the final season last weekend. Absolutely fantastic and the final episode brought a tear to my eye. I will miss it that's for sure.
Amazing characters and superbly acted with a sharp and gritty script, into the birth of porn in NY.

What a show!

Excellent that this is back, will get stuck in pretty soon.
Two things I love about this.

One, the week by week drip feed - much better than the dump and binge, especially for something as thoughtful as this. And secondly, while this isn't The Wire, this is surely Simons next best work, and ultimately succeeds because you end up emotionally invested in some of the characters, rather than just watching to see what happens to them in a superficial narrative sense.

Grown up television.

The whole final season is available on Sky boxsets. Probably because we got this season months after it was shown in the USA. All the previous seasons aired weekly and were on at the same time as they aired in America.

Thanks, didn't realise that.

Will still watch it week by week as it airs.
Otherwise I'd watch it too quickly, and it resonates less, just being something I'd watch quickly and move on from.

With the week by week, it's firstly something to look forward to, and also the story etc ticks over in your mind between episodes.

For narrative driven shows, bingeing is fine and doesn't hamper the experience..
For character led dramas, the week by week makes it more enjoyable.

Episode one takes place at CES 1984, when one floor was for consumer electronics and the upper floor was for adult video. Things have certainly changed since then.

Marvelously written and executed by Mr Simon, the same insane/genius character development focused story telling; faithfulness to the era in terms of decors/sets/music/cars/magazines/clothes...

What else we could hope For ?

Mr Simon is really a genius of his age, and i truly believe he already carved his name in History (in CAPITAL LETTERS IN GOLD).

N.B i truly Saw the 2 Francos as 2 characters, he really convinced me.

"The Wire" is the best TV show ever made . "Me".

Fitting finale.
Franco steals the show, together with Maggie G.
Sad to see this end but ends on an emotional level.
Loved every minute of it.
A series different from the chisel jaw, white teeth, tight suits, FBI saves the day BS we see so often that studios keep releasing.

This is raw, in your face and not for those that are easily offended........

10/10 thank you David Simon.

Thoroughly enjoyed Vincent's trip down memory lane, extremely well done and the song fitted it perfectly.
David Simon is a very good story teller.
