Hi,

Prior to lockdown I had the following work done by a local builder in conjunction with Audio t - home cinema and audio store, They helped convert a bedroom in my terraced house into a cinema room.

The following are before and after pics,'ll post in the thread comments some build pics.

The setup I have is as follows

Projector: Optoma UHD 65 4k
Amp: Arcam FMJ AVR550 AV Receiver
Power Amp: Project AMP box S
Blu Ray: Panasonic DMP_UB9000EBK 4k
Music Server: Innuos Zen mini Mk3
Screen: Grandview cyber 7ft 92” acoustic fixed frame screen
Speakers:
Front – 3x B&W CWM Cinema 7 in wall speakers
Pillar Speakers – 4x B&W CWM663 in wall speakers
Ceiling Speakers – 2 x B&W CCM664 Sr ceiling speakers
Subwoofers: REL T9i and T7i subwoofers
Network Router: netgear GS108E300UKS 8 port – Gigabit switch
Cables: Various audioquest HDMI and ethernet cables,
Chord Shawline and Clearway speaker cables

I'm not totally knowledgeable in the area of Av and home cinema but knew what I wanted as an initial set up going forward i'd like to do the following if possible.

1. upgrade in the future including somehow linking the amp or getting an amp to link up to other speakers I could place round the house and stream music.
2. somehow setting up the amp so I can play on the xbox whilst also listening to music.
3. purchase of an LP player to link to the amp
4. purchase of a control 4 type system to run everything and in time possibly automated curtains
5. purchase or ir controls so when curtains closed amp still is able to be controlled.

Happy to answer any queries or anything on the build and ideas to improve it.

childrens play mats and carpet underlay was used between the walls and panelling to build up a layer to dampen down any noise to the neighbours.
in the bay window was ample space to place all the cabling and keep all the equipment which is being run off a separate mains cable direct to the junction box

I arranged for pillars to be around the room to house plug sockets for future proof as well as to hold the speakers

nice. whats the cost of the fibre optic ceiling ?

I used a company who advertise in hi-fin cinema magazines called starscape, whose prices vary depending on the size of area required, mine was a 3meter by 2 metre with relevant cables and connects and cost around £2,000.,

The cabling and switching for this is house in the projector housing where a section of plugs are wired up, its on a remote but also have it on a light switch to come on and off as required. the remote is for changing the sparking effect and colours as required.

is the projector upside down in there ? i want to box mine in too, but worried how to get it level if sitting on a shelf compared to using a geared mount

The projector is actually mounted on a bracket in the ceiling with the arm that comes with the bracket holding it in place. It was a real bind to open to get to the projector setting that way but much better than a shekv as can be raised or lowered as needed by increments, which is what was done to get it in perfect alignment when the team from the store came out to install all the kit for me.

That's stunning looking  was the starscape Difficult to fit,
was searching for idea's but your's looks the job,

Cheers

Thanks for the comment, I actually got my builder to fit it but didn't seen that difficult. The company I got it from provided instructions and I got the wood frame version, meanibg there was a wood frame put on the ceiling and then each panel is labelled along with the cables and each panel screwed into the ceiling frame and cables thread between the frame and dropped ceiling panels. The screw holes were already marked in the panels so was just screwing in and stickers to hide the screw head placed onto.

Thanks for getting back mate, have to talk nice to the missus 😁

Hi, great room, looks amazing. I am looking to get the infinity panel ceiling. I had the coffered drop built when the room was converted. Like yours, mine is 3 x 2. Can I ask, are you happy with it? Appreciate it is difficult to photograph but there looks to be less than the 100 light points per panel I was expecting. Thanks.

Very nice , glad you thought through storage and racking ;) usually a secondary thought

Thanks all, yea i love the star scape lighting to be honest its just enough as i think any more of the stars would start to light up the room to much, this amount is just enough to maintain the darkness for watching films.

Yea i wanted to ensure the cabinet for housing stuff was incorporated and not just placed in the room and affecting the sound, If i had had more time i think i would have done some of the kit unit differently such as on wheels to be able to wheel in and out to gain access to back, but thats just me being picky.
