Is it possible to check the hours on either panel without specialist equipment ?

And if so how?

Iv already got an LX5090 and I'm collecting a LX6090 this weekend, it would be nice to check both panels if possible

Regards

Dan

Yes, you have to access the service menu to do so. Have a search on the forum, there are numerous posts on this topic.

The numerous threads are not all very clear. GMAN40, in a private message to me about how to access the hours on my Pioneer LX5090, told me:

"To access the service menu I bought a dedicated remote GGF1589 due to the amount of screens I have. You can access the service menu via other routes, but for me this was the best solution.

Thx
GMAN40"

Unfortunately, the remote GGF1589 seems not to be available, so I'm no further forward.

You can use any Harmony remote. Then you need to input a certain code and you can use it to gain access to the service menu.

Ah, thank you. A quick google search for "Harmony remote control" tells me that the cheapest one (the others were around £100 to £200) is this one Logitech Harmony Smart Control Add-on Press buttons Black. Would that do, or will I have to get one of the more expensive ones? I presume that the certain code required for my Pioneer PDP 428XD and LX5090 televisions will be in the Harmony's instructions?

Apparently one of the £40 ones should do it , Iv yet to do it though

@lajohnz Ah, that's reassuring, thanks. As I said above, I'm hoping that I can find out the particular code that is needed for my Pioneer televisions somehow?

@SonOfSJ you might find the code on here (a long shot ) other than a google search contact Logitech via email/phone . I'm told the code starts summit like 0000 0068 000.......etc
If you do find out post it in this thread (lol) not sure if it's the same code for all 9th gen models .
I never got round to getting the Logitech remote (yet!)

I think it can be any one, doesn't have to be recent or expensive model. They are in the classifieds quite often and eBay I'm sure will have some.
I've seen the code on here but can't remember which thread- might be the 9th gen Pioneer thread or the red tint to blacks one.
You can always email Logitech to ask them.

Can't help more specifically than that as I actually used a program called Control Cal to access the service menu - connected my laptop to the media box on my 500A. There's another software program called Kuro Control I think which some have used to do the same.

Hey Guys,

I appreciate this is an old discussion, but any help is greatly appreciated. I have recently bought an LX6090, and absolutely love it. I have a service remote and have successfully adjusted the voltage to get rid of the slight reddish tint to the blacks. However, I would like to be able to check the service hours of the unit, and don't know how. I have searched far and wide, including on these forums but have had no luck in finding instructions. Can anyone here help guide me?

if you have adjusted the voltage you must have scrolled past the hours, before adjusting?

I guess so, but am not sure what to look for unfortunately. What should I be on the lookout for?

Have a look at the pic attached to post number 18 on this thread...

Thank you, I managed to check and my set has 22,000 hrs on it, so have lowered the voltage to 80, which seems about right according to that guide.

80 for sets over 10k is tosh, im on nearly 30k, sad is at stock and rstp is at 1 to rid the red tint, your set, you watch it, that is all that matters.

I was very happy with the black levels before adjusting SAD to 80. However, I just wanted to get rid of the reddish tint, so maybe I should try and find 'RSTP' and adjust that to 1 instead?

How can I find RSTP, is it called Raster Mask Setup? Just want to ensure I am adjusting the correct option!

what have you already adjusted?

and no its not raster mask setup

Ok, so I found and adjusted RSTP, took it from 18 right down to 1, and the picture looks even better. Blacks are very inky, looking forward to watching in my pitch black room tonight.

I put KNOYSKA-D back up to stock (128). Would you recommend me lowering that at all? My set has 22,000 hours on it, thank you for your help.
