If Beale Street Could Talk Review & Comments

Thanks for the review.

I'd say the music is about the only thing that really stood out for me, the rest was an overlong love story with added poetic effect, it's really put me off seeing Moonlight which I still haven't got round to viewing.
I wasn't a huge fan of Moonlight tbh preferred this

I thought this was excellent for the most part, and really wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was.

Haunting score, fantastic performance and, of course, some sumptuous cinematography. I think it uses it's love story as a microcosm to examine social unjust in particularly troublesome time in American society. A lot of films like that can be in love with it's own melancholy, but I felt this did a great job of not being that type of film.

Also was very impressed with how Jenkins seamlessly interweaved a fractured narrative. Very skilful and a difficult thing to pull off.

Liked it, a little slight and I found the female lead a little passive, but sumptuous would be a good way to describe it. It’s going to bug me
that we never found out what the child wrote on the picture
8/10
