I thought this was excellent for the most part, and really wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was.
Haunting score, fantastic performance and, of course, some sumptuous cinematography. I think it uses it's love story as a microcosm to examine social unjust in particularly troublesome time in American society. A lot of films like that can be in love with it's own melancholy, but I felt this did a great job of not being that type of film.
Also was very impressed with how Jenkins seamlessly interweaved a fractured narrative. Very skilful and a difficult thing to pull off.
