Does a projector have to be straight on perpendicular or can it be angled slightly downwards to increase throw distance and have some software way to re-straighten the image or am i just being extremely wishful in my thinking.. could do with an extra inch or two.. lol

Keystone but don’t think it’s your friend because it affects the quality of the image.

Keystone is usually done digitally - you reshape the image on the projector pixel array, which effectively means you throw away pixels (resolution) so best avoided if you want optimum performance from your projector.

If the Projector position is fixed or you can’t swap lens or projector model could you consider moving your screen forward?
