Hi all!
I have a 2007 Sony STR-DG710 A/V receiver which I don't plan to replace for now.
I am getting a new 4K LG C9 OLED TV and I need to rethink all the connections.
Right now my 4K Set top box and PS4 are connected to the receiver, and then I have an HDMI connected to my TV, which is not 4K.
After getting my new TV, if I keep the connections as they are, the receiver will be a bottleneck as it has HDMI1.3 or 1.4, so, it would be compromising 4K signals, right?
What would be the best way to redo the connections?
Hope you can help!

You will have to use the TV as a HDMI hub for video. If the receiver has ARC abilities then you can playback audio from the TV to the receiver. If it doesn't then use the optical out from the TV to the receiver. You will lose the ability to have HD audio, Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD MA over digital optical. At least you will still have surround sound.

Hi Gibsy!
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I ended up digging a bit and found that the solution is the second one you suggested as the AV Receiver does not have ARC.
I will be using a optical cable between the TV and the receiver.
I will be able to get at least Dolby Digital, which is not bad.
In fact, my speaker setup, Bose Acoustimass Series II wouldn't allow me to enjoy any of the newest HD audio formats, or am I wrong?
