LG C8 Lip Sync Issues

Maybe time to give LG a break. Sky Q lip synch is out on the Philips 803. My guess is that there’s something in the way Sky Q outputs lossy DD+ that these sets don’t like.

I don't use SKY Q and I'm having lip synch issues with both my 4K blu-ray players and Xbox One X so it's clearly the TV which is the issue.

Yeah it’ll happen on nearly any device attached to the TV

I had no issues with any other input on the C8, only Sky Q. Installed latest firmware this morning and lip synch now perfect on all inputs. S/bar is the LG SK9Y.

Well that's conflicting information with the about post.
I'll see if I have an update when I get home.

My lip sync problems only really started with the Virgin Media STB and PS4 Pro connected to the TV after applying the latest firmware update!

What about live TV running though the SK9Y? For me the audio is delayed.

Update
Just for the record I had lip sync issues when the Sky Q and my Blu Ray was set to DD. If I set them to normal\stereo the lips sync was OK. All TV apps were OK. I updated the tv to v4.10.20 and closely monitored it for a few days now and I believe it to be OK now. The problem with lip syn is that it gets in your head! At some point during the day at work I almost believed people I was meeting in real life had lip sync issues. The strange thing is that I spoke to LG on Friday about the fault case I’ve had opened since October about this very issue and they didn’t say anything about a fix, they said that specialists were still looking into it. That leads me to believe that the fact that it’s OK now was a fluke and it could just as likely reappear in the future. Talking about giving L G a break though, I do think you have a point. With me, once we got passed the silliness of suggesting my cables weren’t up to the job and they realised I weren’t going away, I thought they were pretty good! Here’s hoping

Getting lipsync error on a youview box into HDMI (then ARC to Denon) as well as the built in iplayer app - so dont blame SkyQ - this is a C8 thread for a good reason!

If they just updated the TV so you can adjust minus figures like you could on the B7 this wouldn't even be an issue. It's absolutely ludicrous. I can't even replace mine because the company I bought it from won't replace it unboxed.

I just need to buy a new amp I reckon that has dolby vision pass through.

If it's faulty, a retailer cannot insist on the original packaging, they only can where you just change your mind

Technically it's not faulty though. Isn't that where most of this issues are. If I thought there's a version out there that's fine other arc I'd ask for it to be swapped, but judging on this 18 page thread there isn't.

It is a fault, just one that is in all sets .It's not fit for purpose.

Hi,does anybody have the sky soundbox and no if you can use the LG remote to change the volume?

No. I have a B8 & all sources route through AVR so it's not an issue for me
Makes sense. That was my plan but my pioneer won't update so I can't get the HDR passthrough :(
I've tried updating via both the internet and the USB but I get an error each time.
Very frustrating. I've never used arc ever, so this is all a big headache for me.

I just installed a CA module to see some pay channels and the lip sync on the channels going "through" the module is totally crazy! I recorded it at 240fps and tried to analyze it, the sound is around 150ms after picture!
The normal tv channels are ok, and everything is ok through tv speakers, only with ARC the whole thing is useless :(

What about the built in apps, arc ok for them or do you use optical?

Why can’t LG just update the tv so we can all go back to minus as auto is always before lip movements.think I’m going insane with this tv.sold my LG sound bar.got the sky soundbox.still the same.sky q is just broke.needs updated ***

Yes it is a bit crazy, but it wouldn't even solve my problem, since it is only the tv channels going through the CA module having 150ms sound delay. So if I'd put minus 150ms on I would have the opposit problem on the other channels :(

I had poor lipsysnc on iplayer - esp. the live channels - but had to factory reset the TV because I started to get the 'device not recognised' error which stops the app from playing.

Freshly reset the lipsysnc error is much less - but no doubt it will begin to drift.

Looking at getting the 77c8.
Do people get lip sync via the Av receiver to Tv or is it just over Arc with sky?
Thanks

Posted this in the owners thread, but might be helpful here to - I got my Sonos Beam last night, on the whole I’m very happy with it. It was funded by selling a never used stereo amp and speakers, but I’m not entirely sure I would have got one otherwise. So... lip sync. This was my biggest fear, having read lots of reports about it being an issue. Well I’m happy to report it’s mostly not an issue. My Sky Q box occasionally causes some minor issues, but when it does it very minor. Netflix apps etc are ok. Setting to Sky box to PCM rather than DD helps, but there isn’t much improvement from the TV’s own sound, which is already not bad, just a bit more bass and volume. So I’ll stick to DD, as it’s (obviously) more spacious and punchy. The Beam also reveals a little more detail, like the sound of rain in scenes, but not £400’s worth more. That said, AirPlay 2, Alexa and all the other Sonos tricks makes it a good purchase that I’m very happy with. But it doesn’t blow me away by any means, but you have to be realistic for the cost and lack of satellite speakers. So I’m pleased I got it, but equally I could happily live without it.
