We have had planning permission passed but with the proviso that we increase parking by 1 so now we are looking at extending/modernising our driveway.

We have looked at resin bonded, imprinted and block paved,

Do we have any resident specialists that can perhaps give me some guidance as we haven't got a clue? It was suggested around £85 per sm for flagging by a mate of mine. We don't think we want flags though as we like the cobble style.

Thanks for any info.

No idea about prices etc......

But a few people have had resin done round my way .....a couple still look great......and a couple didn't seem to last very long at all ..one in particular seem to loosen up within a year

.....just a heads up really .

If you fancy diy...Block paving isn't that hard to do to be honest...I've helped someone out to do a couple of jobs a few years ago...and done a back yard ..and a couple of patios myself

Admittingly I've never done a parking spot ...but as long as your subbase is done correctly it's the same principle...suppose if you need drainage it might be a bit trickier.

Like most things labourous that's where a lot of your money goes...suppose you could dig out and do the subbase yourself ..then with materials on site get someone to lay the blocks ?

If only I was good at getting things level I would attempt to do it myself.

Check your local authority planning portal - I believe planning permission is required over a certain size due to environmental issues (permeability etc).

where I am, anything over 5sqm requires planning approval.

Pretty straightforward to be honest....wooden planks or something along the sides.wacked in level ..another long bit to act as a straight edge to drag along between the tops....in fact my mate used 2 long lengths of metal pipe if i remember rightly.

I'm sure there's loads of stuff on you tube.

.....never realised the same system is used to (properly) lay artificial grass...apparently .

.....like most things my DIY skills over the years have always been due to necessity...ie can't afford to get someone in to do it.

It's part of my planning approval for an extension.

There are two types of resin, bonded and bound. Be careful of people's view/price as they might be talking about resin bound not what you have asked.
Have a look at exposed aggregate, you can source the stones yourself and DIY.

We went with A&G country cobbles in the end, a colleague's husband has been on furlough since march so he's doing it for us (its what he does as a job) we have saved about a grand by me calling in favours on MOT, sand etc from some of the people I supply via my work... but that has just been wiped out by the £950 dropped kerb quote from the council, they have me by the short and curlies as I could have it done far cheaper if they would allow me to.
