Hi Folks,

Just bought a new Samsung 65Q85R and connected the 2 satellite feeds from the old sky hd+ box - thinking I would see the same Sky EPG - guess that would be too easy!šŸ˜©
Having a read around - looks like the EPG is just a bookmark of satellite channels - broadcasters have to pay to be on them for both Sky and freesat - interesting the FTA indian channels have paid to be on Sky EPG but not freesat EPG - which would presumably have been cheaper?

Is there a way to mass import these channels (start from 700 on sky epg), been having a google, but not come up with anything as yet.
If anyone has any pointers or tips - would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I'll carry on googl'ing.

Cheers

There should be another 'mode' for scanning satellite/s ... I dont know the menus but I'd look for

SCAN SATELLITES ..?
SCAN OTHER SATELLITE/S ...
Or maybe non FREEESAT MODE

Something like that .. to scan all fta channels on Astra 2 @ 28.2e

Thanks, have just tried that - chose satellite - rather than freesat - seems to have added a whole bucket load of channels including some samsung ones.
Though, now there doesn't appear to be any schedules showing when listing the channels. Also all the channels are all over the place - no consistency, e.g. news channels appear all over the place rather than as a group. Loads of adult channels - which I need to get rid off as I have small children.
There is an option to export channels and import channels. I've tried to export to USB - appears to be some sort of SQL Lite files. So not sure how to edit this.

I think for now, it might be easier just to re-connect the Sky HD box and use this instead.

Sure would!

First, clear out the god awful tuning database.
Have a look at Kings of Sat for 28.2E and make a note of the transponders that are broadcasting what you want to watch. Having done that, manually scan each one individually.
The programmes will still appear to be in random order, so re-order them to suit.

Thanks, may be have another go at the weekend.

You should get at least now and next epg on most channels - this might only appear if you click on the channel or it's group

You should also find a channel editor option to move the channels the way you want them.. it can be better for ordering & you can save it as you found.

Id also look for a LOCK option for porn as each time you rescan you'll need to delete them but if they are locked they stay locked.

Unless you want to record. The old Sky-Box will let you view FTA channels including the Indian ones.

If you have one of the newer Samsung TVs then search for a streaming app called YuppTV. It streams most of the popular Asian channels. If you search on ebay, some people are selling yearly packages for Ā£79 for 15 months. I downloaded it for my mum, she seems pretty happy with it.
