After thinking it was a Hillman/Chrysler Avenger at first, and searching images of 1972 cars I could remember couldn't find a match, I then image-searched that posted above, lead to TV series 'White Gold' (never encountered it) and someone mentioned the larger-than-Avenger Chrysler 2 Litre:

I'm satisfied now.
You jest, surely. I'm not sure when Peugeot-Talbot came on the scene; I believe the 2 litre came from Chrysler in the US.I worked for Hillman (Rootes group, then Chrysler) 1974-1978 and never saw one of those, can't even remember a parts book for one and I was assistant parts manager for a Chrysler main agent in Taunton. Definitely a viva clone with a larger engine.
Nope, never seen, saw some chrysler cars but can't remember which, but pretty sure I didn't see that one. Also Talbot were before my time, we had Singer, Hillman, Simca. I have in mind the Chrysler 180 which I've just googled and that's it, but I'm blowed if I can remember seeing it like that. You jest, surely.
