NEWS: Melco launches home demo scheme

Home demonstrations are not exactly a new concept, it’s probably the best way to audition kit....and been going on for years

HiFi shops should be closed, as should all companies not providing essential services during this current COVID-19 crisis.

The issue with delivery drivers dropping stuff off is a tricky one, it does appear that most couriers are taking the right precautions though and they're out there dropping stuff off all day long. Amazon are still going and most high street stores are relying on mail order to see them through this.

Hopefully the offer isn't like a traditional home demo where some geezer turns up to plug it all in and set it up.

Buying new hifi is very low down my list of things to do. Not getting ill, not making anyone else ill and having a job at the end of this seems much more important.

However, you have to see it from the company's point of view - They're also trying to do the same: keep their employees in jobs, keep their factory viable etc. so I don't blame them for offering this service.

For those that want to take advantage of it and take their mind off the current crisis by auditioning new kit, good on them. We all have to try to keep healthy throughout this and if this helps someone's mental health without putting anyone else at risk then it's not a bad thing to offer.
