NEWS: QLED TV sales predicted to rise 88% this year

A recent report by a Korean source claims that QLED TV sales are predicted to rise significantly this year, encouraged by a number of factors.

Is one of those factors the blatant "NO SCREEN BURN GUARANTEE" on every Shamsung TV's?

It’s great to see lcd improve as the years go on. Think they need to sort their pricing out on the flagships, it’s not an oled so why price as if it is.

So a South Korean company says sales are predicted to rise 88% for a South Korean company .

The name QLED itself is a cheap copy of OLED.

Screeen burn guarantee is the primary scare tactic used to deter potential buyers from buying the superior OLED.

As usual this year's QLEDs still couldn't match the OLED for overall picture quality.

Not really a cheap copy, but a clever play on letters which has been enough for general public.

The actual reason why the sale are so good is that the lowest model of QLED skims the mass market mid range TV prices. Even now with the recently launched Samsung range you can pick the bottom tier model in the UK for £700. That price will reduce further as we go through the year.

Yes I would agree though the bottom tier QLED is no OLED. But it is at the price that is much easier to sell bucket loads.

'Overal picture' picture of the top QLED is on par with OLED. Somethings it does better other things it does not so well.

Anyway what will potentially make the big difference to OLED sales is the inkjet-printed coming online with JOLED Inc.
This is the biggest thorn in the side for Samsung. The only way they could combat that is trickling down all the current tech on the top QLED to the cheapest version.

Spot on mate. It's LCD at the end of the day. I will never go back to LCD due to the viewing angles and dirty screen effect. Oled has a far more natural picture than LCD sorry Qled

If someone wants to pay more - in 55" size a lot more - for a picture that is "on par" with OLED, that's their decision and their judgement call.

But top of the line QLEDs are not where the bulk of the QLED sales are, of course - it's those entry level edge-lit QLED models with no local dimming at all - the ones that are PQ-wise pretty much indistinguishable from the next tier down in the Samsung lineup.

If you did a survey in any town in the UK and asked shoppers whether they follow or were even aware of such reports, you'd get a resounding no.

If you did a survey in most towns most people wouldn't know the difference between OLED and LED and as so many of the OLED lovers here miss that these people spend less than £1000 on a TV's.

The bottom level of QLED is in mass market where big numbers of TV's sell - that is all this report tells you. There is no OLED in that market at the moment.

Really it tells you nothing more than the level of where most people spend their money. It's sub £1000.
