Just got the BDP-450 - good player which handles SACD - only to find out that the 5.1 output from SACD is only available via the HDMI out - the Digital Out connection only provides PCM stereo .
My beloved & very musical AVR280 does have 2 HDMI in & 1 out - but only for switching video so it doesn't pick up the audio from HDMI.
The only solutions appear to be retaining my tired old Pioneer DVD just for SACD replay (analogue connection) or finding an HDMI converter of some sort.
Any thoughts (apart from 'what a pillock!') or advice welcome.
Edit: - having done further research there appears to be a range of HDMI 'de-embedders' such as those from Keene (http://www.keene.co.uk/electronics/product.php?mycat=4444)
- anyone got any experience with these? - I want to make sure whatever I get can send 5.1 via it's digital out
