Hi,

I have a Rotel RMB-1095 power amplifier which, at the moment, is surplus to requirements. I did put it up for sale sometime ago, but due to a fault with an amp which I bought to replace it, I had to withdraw it from sale. I did eventually source a replacement amp and my RMB-1095 has been in storage for three years. The archived details are here. If your budget will stretch to it, the asking price is £795.

I'm also in Nottingham, so that would help with delivery/collection.

Regards,

Mark

Ignore that! I missed your original thread.
I am totally new to Power Amps: does it need to 'match' my speakers or my existing receiver (Anthem 720 and XTZ Cinema Series).

I honestly don't know if I need a Power Amp, or if I'm just convincing myself it's a necessity! I think £795 is stretching my budget a bit so will have a think. Thank you.

No you don't need to match power. Better to have more.

Just make sure your av amp can supply voltage.

Ie if you av amp outputs 1v max but the power amp requires 6v for full power this is bad, won't be able to reach full output from amp, and anything past 1v will be distorion

JamesP1701,

You can never have enough power!

If you look at the specifications for power output of the MRX720 on this page here, (scroll down to the MAXIMUM CONTINUOUS OUTPUT (1% THD) section), you will see that the headline output into 8 ohms for the MRX720 is 140W. However, if you look at the left hand side more closely, you will see that this figure is only for 2 channels driven out of channels 1-5; driving ALL channels 1-5 will decrease the power output available below 140W/channel. The plot then thickens, as shown below the data for channels 1-5, two of the remaining channels will drive only 60W into 8 ohms.

Just for comparison purposes, the Rotel amp I have (not trying to plug it!) has ALL 5 channels driven at 200W/channel into 8 ohms.

I'm afraid that I don't know about your speakers' power requirements, but I would suggest that any half decent power amp would probably provide more overhead for the speakers than the power output from the MRX720 alone.

Good luck!

Hi SoundSpace,

I’m afraid not, I do not have the packaging and the amp weighs 34kg. I would not be happy to send the amp by courier.

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

how high is your Rotel? Just trying to work out if it would fit in my unit.

The 1095 is a big and heavy MF  and if you can fit it in it would go great with your Cinemas. I have it's baby brother 1075 and my Cinemas love the extra power it gives them.

The 1095 is a beast and gives over 200w per channel all channels driven. It is more than a 1075 but is more powerful so worth extra, the 1095 should be anything from £600+.I see this one was offered nearly 5 years ago for £795 so hopefully the buyer could negotiate as that price was 5yrs ago.

£480 collected. Price reflects that one has the power button missing (but it still operates fine). I few marks on the lid but front faces are fine.

They are both in perfect working order and sound immense. Consecutive serial numbers.

Hi Mark,

I am based in Dundee, so it would be impossible for me to collect. If you can find a way to courier it to me I will be willing to make an offer.

Hi Mark,

I will be coming down south sometime in the next 4 weeks So should be able to collect the amp. What would be the lowest you would be willing to go on the amp? Has the amp being serviced anytime recently?
