Can anyone please give some advice in relation to a pre-amp?

I have recently purchased a Marantz TT 15S1. I have never set a turntable up before from scratch and want to ensure I can get the best sound out of it. I am looking at buying a pre-amp to add to my current amp (which is a Nad C355 BEE) and was considering the Arcam PhonoR which seems to have lots of good reviews. Although having read further into it it seems that it needs to be set for your cartridge/current amplifier. The Marantz comes with a Clearaudio virtuoso wood cartridge and clearaudio satisfy 'ebony' tonearm I believe.

Will this combination work ok? Any tips on setting up or any suggested alternatives?

Thanks

I think the Virtuoso Wood is an MM, right? In which case check this out -

These are £500 new, and they’re absolutely exquisite. I can’t recommend NJC enough as a brand but because they’re relatively little known, there’s every chance it’ll go cheap on ebay.

I use a Clearaudio phono pre:-

It caters for both MM & MC and punches much above it's weight for the cost.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look. Are they easy to set up? And yes it is a MM cartridge
Yes dead easy, just need to select the right capacitance to match cartridge.
