Protesters complaining of assault

nuffin to analyse nor winge about.
Then why spend all day Sunday vigorously defending Field's actions? None of us would be posting here if we didn't think some aspect of this case was important.

If you want to see a potential threat, what about the male protester that gets within 5 metres of our Chancellor? The Chancellor doesn't move away and no one appears that bothered apart from his speech is being interrupted.

So only a male can be a potential threat?

You contradict yourself in that you admit he was a potential threat... but it's okay nobody intervened?

You're painting yourself into a corner.

So again, you're telling me that in the immediacy of the situation, you'd be able to process the woman's choice of clothing and deduce from that, there was no threat?
The protestors entered the room. Hooked a horn and said "Greenpeace! This is a climate change emergency!". The Chancellor suppressed a smile. A male protestor approaching him was contained. Janet started her approach on the other side of the table. Mark Field kicked off.

I don't think anyone needed super human skills to determine that there was no need to grab a protestor by the neck.

He literally dosent understand the psychology involved in the concept of hindsight. I think the info will never find their space in the brain cells.

Are you talking about me or the other person who you think also lives in Bristol? :)

We have these things called eyes, ears and a brain, that allows us to see the same as what was being recorded in real time, and to process the information.

I'm saying the male close wasn't a threat, no one else in the room saw the protest as a threat, because there was no threat. It's not complex.

I'm out of here, too many foil hats for my liking!

You're back already?

Someone else lives in Bristol?

Yes your last paragraph is correct, but you have been basing your argument on hindsight. Again , you've gotten confused as you've now flipped between foresight and hindsight. It's like a big bundle of socialist passive aggressive minority report confuddlement.

Or they where a bit scared that the armchair socialist types would make them out to be a warlord or something.

Well, at least the majority of the newspapers agree with my opinion, together with our dear prime minister, so at least I don't feel alone

You're gonna need superhuman skills to continue with this

With any luck the mods will close the thread soon. Actually talking about Brexit again will be quite refreshing!

The joys of the media, and politics, and how to sell news and get votes.

We have these things called eyes, ears and a brain, that allows us to see the same as what was being recorded in real time, and to process the information.

And unlike the video footage and photos, what is happening in real time has to be processed extremely quickly... and impulsive action is a consequence.

If the result of that impulse is that the situation is brought to a conclusion and nobody is hurt then that's a pretty good result.

But there are always those who, despite this, will have to stand up for someone who wasn't hurt and hasn't asked for your sympathy.

Yes, he got it wrong.

Thank god!

I have read the thread and you appear to have accused Bristol chaps of introducing the Boris incident.

If you can demonstrate why that has been read incorrectly it is you that needs to explain it. Before I escort you off the thread ;)

As I said he wasn't a threat. A potential threat due to location, but not actually a threat because everyone in the room knew what was going on with the (peaceful) protest.

Sorry... you can't say someone is a potential threat but not a threat. It's either or.

Put your brush away and wait for the paint to dry before you leave the corner you're in.

So as well as hindsight, you're now claiming to know what every person in that room was thinking?

Extraordinary claims...

It was making a comparable display of similar ideals, and relayed in a satirical manner. This was explained earlier, post your message regarding this.

I think it was covered about 13 pages back. The response from Field was seen as heavy handed, even by himself. The other people in the room must have had time machines so they could see into the future and know that they simply needed to stand in the way to deter the protestors. The fact is, nobody was seriously injured by him, but he looked like a GI Joe wannabe marching her out. That look clearly appeals to some on here, and not to others, as is life.

However, looking at the political angle, Field has made the classic politician’s mistake of falling into hypocrisy over accusing people of “heavy handed responses”, having accused the Chinese Government of it only a few days ago. The difference for him is that it occurred within the same week, rather than being called out by some ‘exclusive expose’ by someone trailing through his decades old history.
