Following the excellent Rebel Galaxy, a sort of single-player 2D Elite: Dangerous, Outlaw got announced recently.
Confirmed Y-axis now, but it makes me wonder if it'll still have the really big battleships.

Hopefully it's got the same heart and fun the first did :smashin:

I'm really liking the look of this, No big ships that you fly this time around the reason why the dev gives in the gameplay video and there is more of a storyline and things to do out side of combat, the first game was great and this one looks to have the same feel so will for sure pick this up when it releases next year.

Still looking good, the dev have put up a few more detailed vids, but this earlier one is a nice summary too:

New stream / dev Q&A:

- references (theme, influences) wing commander: privateer, Cowboy Beebop, first game, westerns, GTA
- hats!
- difficulties (up to no flight assist, first person only)
- assists to help people in, but you can go sim
- open world, with storyline
- markets / planets not procedural, so you can find say trade routes
- side missions and encounters do RNG
- bar games
- merc and merchant guilds
- you can go pirate
- 7 radio stations (classical, pop/EDM, country, metal, latin, backbeat, dynamic-game, custom)
- photo and film modes
- buddies can be recruited t help out
- no PSVR
- no ship painting for consoles
- release schedule is PC, consoles, mod kit, free DLC (bug fixing along the way obviously). Digital only at the mo.

He's drinking a bunch of whiskey, so looks progressively less inhibited as the video goes on :D Gotta love indies, without all the marketing "messaging" and other corporate concern. Just 5 people apparently, not including voice actors etc.

Announcement trailer, PC release 13th August 2019 (no PS4 date yet):

Obsidian Ant latest info wrap up video:

Well despite delays it seems like PS4 release is getting closer. It's going thru cert at the moment, Switch is approved, so just need Xbox and PS4 before it can launch on non-PC platforms.

On PC it scored pretty well, given it's kinda niche and low budget, and one can read reviews to totally know what to expect.

Release date 22nd Sept :smashin:

Now live in the UK PSN store :smashin: 11GB
