Hi All,

Looking for some advice on a good receiver for my new HT set up. I've currently not bought anything, just getting the list together.

My budget for the receiver is around 500-700 AUD.

Currently thinking this one looks OK:
Onkyo TX-NR787 AV Receiver

I'm going to be using it with the following speakers:
5x RSL CG23
1x RSL Speedwoofer 10S

What I'd like is comment on if the above is good and if you think there's a more feature rich option around my price point.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks!

I can get a used X3500 for around ~700 AUD off Amazon which seems good. Having eARC is something I didn't think of which I like about this - also seems to have good support for the usual audio/video formats.

Still happy for suggestions and perhaps even an explanation of why, if anyone has any other recommendations!

Personally I'd look at the Denon sister company of Marantz... but it's each to their own. I've always preferred the sound of Marantz for music.

i went from a denon 2300 (hardly any difference between that and the 2500) to a marantz sr6012, huge leap forward in musicality.
i'd certainly recommend one of those if still available is Aus...

Cost of the receiver will depend if it's 5.2, 7.2, 9.2, or 11.2
If you can afford it go with one of the Anthem MRX series 520,720, or 1120 receivers, they are top notch.
Buy it once so you won't be thinking upgrade in a year or two.
