Samsung DVD-H1080 Region Code

Alancole9's solution seems to have done the trick for me here. I just bought a region 2 h1080r from currys and it seems to be happy playing other regions after hitting the key sequence below.

thanks this worked great on my player,r2 brought from comet
turn on dvd without a disc in tray
press repeat (not repeat a-b )
press fast forward
press fast rewind
press fast forward
press up
press down
0 appears in top right corner
player is now multi region

My Region 2 DVD-H1080 has suddenly, for NO reason, decided to refuse to play Region 2 DVDs and only to play Region 1. I've tried updating the firmware both by USB and disk - neither of which worked. I've tried all the combinations of buttons for both Region 2 and Region 1 machines suggested further down this thread. Can't get the grid up. No response at all to any of the button combinations except the red prohibited action symbol when I press the play button at the end. Rang Samsung who were the most useless bunch of w****** imaginable, kept asking me for the same information, then said my problem doesn't exist - it's impossible, etc. Then referred me to a service centre 20 miles away. As it's just out of warranty, I'd have to pay for both repair and petrol. NEVER getting another Samsung machine - customer service and this stupid machine is just the worst EVER. I don't suppose anyone's got any suggestions? If not, I'm off to Argos by the end of the week to replace with a better product.

Hi

Ive bought my Samsung Samsung DVD H1080/XEU off ebay listed as:

'This Product is an ex-display/return from a well known and well established High Street Retailer. UNUSED & AS GOOD AS BRAND NEW (Some of the products may not come with their original packaging).'

that came in the original box but had a big yellow sticker on saying 'B-'

I just cannot get this code to work

PLEASE HELP ME AS IM DUE TO RECEIVE MY TESTEES SEASON 1 DVD BUT IT ONLY CAME OUT IN AUSTRALIA SO ITS A REGION 4 WHERE MY SAMSUNG HAS THE REGION 2 STICKER ON THE BACK

This is rather strange

I bought Badder Santa on ebay a couple of years ago and its a region 1, yet my samsung dvdh1080/xeu has a region 2 sticker on the back and it played the dvd perfectly so does this mean its region free and does this explain why I cant get the numerous hacks to work?

Ive got the screen up with the grid, highlighted the regions I want it to play and pressed play to save it

Is that it?

Hi people, i have finaly found the hack for the dvd-h1080 R2 Players.

1) Reset by pressing and holding 'play'
2)Press Repeat- ('No Disk' will NOT disappear!)
3)Press Fast Forward
4)Press Fast Rewind
5)Press Fast Forward
6)Up button, Down button

You will see the number '0' appear in the top right hand corner,
7)Open the tray, Close the tray.
Enjoy multi region dvd's

Many thanks SimonC5 this worked like a dream

Doesnt work for me

Tried it loads of times

Does anyone have any other PROVEN methods that actually work

I have one of these, bought in UK off amazon, region 2. Bought 9 months ago.

Now, I have just been successful iun getting it hacked to play region 1 also.

FIRST:
someone on amazon had posted this hack in the review section comments. I other guy siad it worked for him at second attempt.
- Power on, no disk in tray
- Repeat (NOT repeat A-B)
- Fast Forward ( >> )
- Fast Rewind
- Fast Forward
- UP
- DOWN
and a small "0" should appear at top right corner of TV screen, this confirms Hack is OK.

Well, I tried 4 or 5 times without success. No "0" appeared, and i confirmed each time that it definitely would not play a region 1 DVD.

So, Looking through the posts here, I tried THIS sequence:

- Repeat (not repeat a-b)
-Fast rewind
-next chapter ( >>| )
-Fast forward
-Previous chapter
-Play

this brought up a grid on the TV.
Initially highlighted were the numbers: 2,7, 9, 10, 19, 21.

So I highlighted the "1", saved settings, power off and on. Tried to play region 1 DVD, No go.

Went through it again, reached the grid and highlighted 3 and 4 also. Power off, On, but still would not play region 1.
Power off, and then on.

Then I tried once more the sequence i had found on Amazon.....this time the "0" appeared,

My machine will now play region 1 and region 2. :))))

BUT if I now try the sequence that brought up the grid - it will not do it. Instead I get a red "forbidden" symbol appear (like a 0 with a diagonal line through it).

But my machine will now play region 1 and 2 at least. I dont have any others DVD to try.
I have not tried any firmware update, and I dont think I shall bother. The machine is doing what I want now.

I got mine off ebay. it has a sticked in the side of the box with a 'B' on it

I eventually managed to get the grid up and I selected regions 1,2,3 & 4

Now it plays my Badder Santa Region 1 DVD and my Testees Region 4 DVD

So im going to leave it as it is as it plays the DVD's I want it to

use this:

-Turn on
-Wait for no disc message
- Repeat (not repeat a-b)
-Fast rewind
-next chapter ( >>| )
-Fast forward
-Previous chapter
-Play

a grid will come up, select the regions you want it to play, then press play to save it

Yeah, the numbers represent regions, as long as you have 0,1 & 2 highlighted, then press play to save, and you're good to go

I know this works because I have a region 1 dvd (Bad Santa) and a region 4 dvd (Testees) and it plays those

Hope that helps

Since this is a UK forum, I'll assume you have a R2 DVD player.
I have just ordrer this player myself online (in France), waiting to receive it.
But I've had a lot of Samsung players, and the region unlocking process is pretty much always the same.

Try this and tell me if it works:

1- Power on
2- Open tray
3- Press "INFO"
4- Close tray
5- Wait for "No disc" then press INFO
5* optional step (depends on the DVD player) - Press "Repeat" (not the A-B one)
6 - Press 5 7 5 3 8 (which is region 2 code for Samsung )
7 - Hopefully a 2 should appear, then press 9, wait for it to diseappear
8 - Power Off

If not working, skip the 4 and 5 steps (let the tray open) and retry

This is what I'm going to try asap, let me know if it works for you

My 10yr old wanted to see Twister movie (the tornadoe chasers). So ordered if of ebay, only to be disappointed to find out was not Region 2 as expected. Hence 2 disappointed kids on a Sat night.

Had never had reason before to hack my trusty Samsung DVD player of many years now before. However, this worked for me, found on some other DVD hack website I can't remember now. Took a few times of messing around to get it right, but if you follow the instructions specifically and exactly it should work hopefully.

I got as far as doing the combination of button presses, and no menu came up. So held down play to reboot and the language menu came up, picked English. And hey presto the DVD works, and 2 happy kids :)

Hope this might help someone, good luck...….! [INSTRUCTIONS START FROM HERE]
