Sharpening kitchen knives?...

...I need to replace my knife sharpening steel as it is pretty worn out and is no longer effective.

The last couple I've bought (and the current one) are these...


...they work *really* well but only last about two to three years before wearing out.
I've no problems with replacing with the same thing again.

I just wondered what other folk here uses.

The mino sharp sharpeners are quite handy, makes it nice and simple to get an edge back, once in a while I get mine done professionally

I use a steel that is also worn a fair bit.

I bought a whetstone years ago and have used it a few times, never been happy with the results as I'm sure I'm doing something wrong or not spending enough time on it.
