Hi

I've googled it but can't find the information. Can anybody tell me the key differences between these two PJs?

Thank you

The Sony 520es appears to have a 10.2 Gb/sec HDMI port

"The 520ES is one of the few projectors on the market capable of playing Ultra HD Blu-rays with HDR and at a 10-bit colour depth. However, videophiles should note that the HDMI port is limited to 10.2Gb/s bandwidth instead of the more up to date standard of 18Gb/s which supports higher frame rates. This means that while most Ultra HD Blu-ray content will playback at 10-bit with 4:2:2 colour subsampling, 4K material encoded at 50 or 60 frames a second typically found in sports and music concerts, will drop down to 8-bit 4:2:0. Considering the price tag, we would have liked to have seen Sony future-proof the projector with full-bandwidth HDMI 2.0 ports."

Dynamic contrast 300,000:1

Sony 570ES Has according to AV forums review has 18.2GB/ sec HDMI
Dynamic contrast 350,000:1

Thank you.
Is there potential that films might also play at the faster frame rates in the future?

Hey, the difference is also contrast ratio.

Sony vpl-vw520es 300,000:1
And
Sony vpl-vw570es 350,000:1

But is this a significant, or big difference?

And Sony vpl-vw570es is HDR

Ah sorry same reply was up. But anyway I interest ask if there is a 350,000:1 and 300,000:1 difference big/significant?

You really only see dynamic contrast either in between scenes when the screen goes blank or at the titles at the end of the film so really these figures are a bit misleading. Unfortunately only JVC quote actual native contrast figures but I imagine the Sony is probably about 20000:1 native.

As for whether movies will play at 60Hz, the problem is if you stream contain then there is quite a bit that’s at this rate which is why most look for it from their 4K projectors.

The SONY is around 10000:1 native on off, and might gain 20000:1 fully closed manual iris, but then there is no lightoutput left. The 520 might be lower, and i would get it tested before buying a 520, as they might be one of the models sufering from heavy contrast degradation.
