Star Wars - General Thread

If anyone is watching 'the Gallery' Mandalorian round-table discussion episodes (part 2 out yesterday), Dave Filoni gives an analysis of the saga from his perspective that crystalises why he is the man for the job when it comes to envisioning future stories. At the end of his monologue, nobody had anything further to add. Pay this guy whatever he wants.

Yes, meant to post that myself as I thought exactly the same thing. He's the perfect next step from Lucas - understands what George Lucas's mindset is, but able to add his own take on that. And also arguing for the permanence of death (the "George made me" reference to Maul was interesting). The take on Luke is also interesting which makes me think he might have been more positive to TLJ than I originally suspected he might have been.

Well worth watching for anyone on here - it's about the last 10 mins of episode 2.

Also cross ref with the first episode where all the directors say that Filoni is invaluable for them.

It was actually interesting to hear Waititi on his own attitude too - that he does rely on people telling him when he's "veering out of the lane". May be why he's well able to work within the Marvel/Star Wars universes.

Are there a lot of spoilers in this? Specifically the Clones Wars?

I dont think so, dont remember the Clone wars even being mentioned. He's mostly discussing Anakin's journey through the movies, between episode 1 and episode 6.

Well (Rebels finale spoilers ahead):

It'd have to be post-ROTJ (given the Rebels finale) - so if they made a film with live action versions of Ezra, Ashoka and Thrawn + others - and it was directed by, say, Taika Waititi (or even Dave Filoni) - that would be AMAZING.

Love the animation style. They're really good those shorts.

Speaking of animation, currently revisiting Rebels on Disney+ and my god there's some fantastic imagery in those episodes. I love the callbacks to Ralph McQuarrie designs and of course there's actually space battles, star wars if you will. One particular highlight is the zero hours episodes in season 3. Stunning shots and stuff that's up there with the Rogue One big cruiser porn. Phwoooaarrr!!!

I also really liked the B-Wing test flight. My only (slight) issue with Rebels is the stylistic amendments to some of the vehicles; eg long-necked star destroyers and shortened TIE fighters. I prefer the film-accurate ships seen in The Clone Wars. But great, as you say, to have some bonafide wars among the stars.

Oh lawd.

The whole thing can be played in VR too! Which, if you played the Battlefront expansion, is AMAZING.

Doing the same here - love Rebels! Seemed to catch random episodes on whatever channel we saw it on before. Good just to be able to go through it all in the right order on Disney+. Just started so will play close attention to the zero hour episode.
