Let’s hope someone actually shows it here! Still waiting to watch Mr Mercedes :(

Oh yes. Loved the early 90s original. Scared the crap out of me as a kid. I remember it as a disturbing mix of the mundane and eerie apocalyptic horror. Wonder if it's worth a rewatch 30 years later?

Hope CBS goes out all with this and produces something special. What else have they made? Good track record?

After I read The Stand recently I tried to watch the 1994 TV version with Rob Lowe (who starred in the 2004 adaptation of Salem's Lot also).
Thought it sucked big time and Molly Ringwald was terrible. Looking forward to a newer, better vision.

Anything King is good with me. Another one to look forward to.

Rumored - James Marsden, Amber Heard, and Whoopi Goldberg being eyed

The Stand Cast Announced, Stephen King to Write Last Chapter

Stephen King will write the last chapter of the series, providing a new coda that won’t be found in the book

Cast Announced

James Marsden will portray Stu Redman, an ordinary working-class factory man in an extraordinary situation with a damaged quality to him that belies his exterior

Amber Heard will play Nadine Cross, a deeply conflicted woman who feels the consequences of her actions, but is still compelled by her allegiance to Randall Flagg, the Dark Man

Odessa Young will play Frannie Goldsmith, a pregnant young woman navigating a strange new world, who also has the foresight to recognize that there is evil lurking beyond the Dark Man

Henry Zaga will portray Nick Andros, a young deaf and mute man who finds himself in a position of authority when the unthinkable happens. He has a habit of risking his own well-being for the safety of others

Whoopi Goldberg plays Mother Abagail

Jovan Adepo (When They See Us) as conflicted musician Larry Underwood.

Owen Teague (Black Mirror) will play the bitter young incel Harold Lauder.

Brad William Henke (Orange Is the New Black) will portray Nick Andros’ traveling companion Tom Cullen.

Daniel Sunjata (Rescue Me) will play Cobb, a member of the military tasked with supervising Stu Redman.

Alexander Skarsgard is Randall Flagg... I guess because his brother is Pennywise?

I can’t say the casting choices inspire much enthusiasm from me. Besides Henke as Tom, its all feeling like missed opportunities.

Skarsgard is perfect casting as Randall Flagg. He has to be a compelling character and I believe that's what he will bring.

hmmmmm….not sure why this needs another remake. granted the 90s one was just "okay", but i'm not really excited over this, despite Manson being in it ~ he's great in Sons of Anarchy and if you want a laugh, check out a youtube short called Das foto-shoot.
if they were going to do something longer/better, i'd really like to see an updated version of Christine.

oddly too, I think 10 hours is a bit much ~ weird, cos I usually complain about King adaptations being too short to do the work justice!

If the colour fits...

McConaughey was the perfect Flagg but got wasted in that Dark Tower movie. Skarsgard is too obviously a “seductively evil Eastern European guy” type and I always thought the character should have a uniquely American presence (even if he’s not human.)

will play Teddy Weizak, a superflu survivor and member of the body crew, alongside Harold (Teague), in Boulder, CO. McNamara is Julie Lawry, a small-town girl with a wild side who is one of Lloyd’s (Wolff) conquests in Las Vegas. Linklater is set as Dr. Ellis, a military colonel and infectious-disease specialist who dreams of being the hero who stops the superflu
