Hi,

I hope there's someone out there that can help me.

I'm new to AV Forums & I intend to start selling my vast collection of high end Technics equipment over the coming weeks & months.

I have the Technics SU-C3000 & SE-A3000 pre & power amp combination which is one of the best combos Technics made back in the days when they were at the top of the game when it came to Hi Fi equipment.

The combo is an awesome piece of kit & the build quality is astounding, they weigh it at over 40kg.

The only downside is the pre amp needs a new battery so it can be used in both AC & DC modes but I don't know where to buy a replacement.

I'm fairly sure they are available online but I don't know the part number of the battery so I can search for it.

I dare say there'll also be after market batteries available that do the same job but again I've no idea where to look.

So by big question, is there anyone on the forum that can help me source either an original replacement battery or an after market battery that is compatible with the SU-C3000.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S
If anyone is interested in buying the SU-C3000 & SE-A3000 Combo I'm open to sensible offers.

Thanks in advance.

Technics Man.

Bit of searching throws this up.....

Hi Julian,

I did actually find a suitable replacement battery (not a Panasonic though) - it was two SLA batteries lashed together, not sure what the values were now though unfortunately

easy to get though, definitely - don't believe what the manual says about needing a specific battery, they were very generic values.

I thought the SU-C3000 was a rather good preamp, the phonostage especially, I'd agree with the warm and relaxing comment though. The DC operation kicked everything up a notch.

I would remove the existing old battery and take it to a battery specialist.

I have the service manual if you want it pm your email address and I will send it over.
