Anyone else really picky when looking ?

Depends. The more popular the vehicle, the more you can afford to be picky but less so if your after something less popular or an unusual spec.

I almost didn't buy my current car due to its overall poor condition but it was the only one in the country for sale at the time* so I settled for it and fixed the (mostly cosmetic) issues myself.

*In fact it's the first one I've ever seen for sale over here in the 3-4 years I'd been looking.

Well there are a lot of mk2 MX5's out there. But not sure whether to wait until one of the specialist garages have one for sale that's been repaired and treated, or risk picking up a cheaper one from private sale.

Buying any second hand car involves compromise

I loved the look of the targa I bought but nearly didn't go yo seer it as it was 125 miles away and I wasn't sure about the interior but it was the only one for sale with the price age miles and spec that interested me so off to see it I went and the rest is history

The interior ended up being a positive to my eyes rather than a negative in the end

Well I don't have to pick one up straight away. But I will lose this years no claim bonus and be stuck on 4 if I don't get something in 90 days.

Just found a decent looking one 40 miles away, 2002, chassis rails done apparently. Might send a message. If I can haggle down to 2k might be worth it. In silver.... wanted one in green or blue ideally...

What's the point in advertising a car if you're not going to answer calls.

Maybe they also have to work...

I sent a text 2 days ago to this seller, no response so I called today but no answer, and now I've left a 2nd text

Called again, picked up. But it's sold 😭

my 718 GTS has been my only car for over 2 years and has been utterly reliable and pretty much the best car i have ever owned but stuff that its time for a change

i tried a 997 turbo but tbh its way more car than i need in terms of flat out performance

going to be another porsche but what? saw this on a pistonheads search and had not realised these were in my budget yet

roll on next friday for collection

I faced a similar dilemma around a year ago but went for the 997.1 turbo. The gen2 and 991.1 turbos were well out of budget but happy with the gen1 turbo.

There’s something about the 911 that gets under your skin - engineering that shouldn’t really work but then you get 1.2 bar boost out of a second gear corner and the world goes in reverse. My earlier 996.2 Carrera was similarly endowed (with less shove naturally). And this from the owner of many superbikes over the years!

I had 2 996 models and I still especially remember the C4s as a truly great car

I think I am now of an age where a c4s targa is plenty quick enough for me and the other attributes of the targa were way more important to me than outright grunt

This is the toy that's replaced the cayman. Picked up on the 2nd Nov but only yesterday did I get round to washing inside and out.

Picked this up at the weekend. Not looking its best just yet, needs a little TLC.

That looks nice. Got any more pictures. Always been a bit of a sucker for an MX5, but never owned one. With two kids, it's unlikely I will for some time as well.

Maybe it's just the photos, but if I didn't know you'd bought an M3, I'd have thought that was a standard 3 series, bar the exhausts.

Yup. Bit of a sleeper. But there are a few telltale signs. The bonnet hump, the quad exhaust, the brake ducts and the side indicators.

I think it is the photos, there is so much reflection on the bonnet you can barely tell the hump is there.
What mileage has it got?

Need to take her on a photoshoot indeed but got some mechanical work that needs doing first (Monday booked in).

With mods and 4 years NCB I got insured for just under £600. Dont take one for a test drive because you'll have caught the bug. I would like bit more torque like the mk3 2.0 but this 1.8 mk2 just needs to be dropped down a gear and its quick enough. Wasn't sure on the stickers but think ill keep them on for the time being. Refurbish the alloys to a dark bronze maybe ???

New rubber last week. Bit rough around the edges on the body as you can see below on the front wing.

A little higher than i wanted, at 91k, but the interior doesn’t show it. I had the DCT serviced on Friday and the oil didn’t look bad at all. So looks like it hasn’t been thrashed by previous owners.

Yikes. You’re a brave man.

Never bought a low mileage car yet. Golf at 92k (sold at 122k) 330d at 84k (written off at 162k) 335d at 69k (sold at 179k) and now this M3 at 91k.
