I keep getting the mick taken out of me on here..🤣
I’ve really gotta sell my Q Acoustics 3070S ASAP
hopefully shouldn’t take that long!
Dunno why my sub gets a lot of stick on here?🤔

Anyway... I’ve just upgraded my Walnut Monitor Audio Bronze 6’s and the Bronze Centre to the new Bronze 500 Floorstanders and Bronze C150 Centre
(they arrive next Thursday or Friday) Excited muchly! Everything in white to match my TV unit

so... in the next 4 or 5 weeks I’m gonna have to shell out for a new subwoofer... and yes it’s gotta be white to match my new Bronze stuff 🤣

any ideas on one that’ll be a huge upgrade and give me a nicer bigger sound?

was thinking the only choice could be these 2?

best one for the money and my budget?
please! No more than £450 to £500 MAX!

Here’s a few pics of my current setup and my new bronzes that are coming next week

Dual 8"s nice! 😎 Pfft PB1000 isn´t available as white.

This "big baby" is going to give you most bang for your buck, see specs & dimensions here:

And the white finish DF = downfiring see here, there is no pictures of white FF but you get the idea on the links:

I think the shipping is ~30£ cause it`s large and heavy. You need to call them monday about the availability when they come back from vacation. Monolith has been the go to sub for movies for over 10years (at 500£ mark). If you want noticeable upgrade this is it. Compare the FF and DF cabinet dimensions which suits you better. Performance is same.

bearing in mind I’ve still only got my Trusty Denon AVRX-2200W.

Hmmm... what ya reckon for me mate?
Downfiring sub or front firing?
I would deffo need the smallest cabinet size and bear in mind I live in a ground floor flat with no neighbours to the side of Me, but neighbours above me on 2 floors 🤣

Yep no worries. One upgrade at time. If you want big impact for blockbuster movies then Monolith is very tricky to beat for the price. Large ported cab and what i remember your room isn´t really small either so this would be spot on. You can pick something smaller and then few months later regretting not going "all in". Don´t do that mistake. The QA sub starts to roll off around 35hz, while the Monolith has very strong output down to 20hz. You are going to hear and feel new things.

Some older review for original Mono:

Yeah man no worries you can pick either one you want, if you need to decouple it from the floor later just get some concrete slab or similar. I would compare the dimensions which fits better / gives you more options for sub placement / looks better. FF = lower but deeper, DF = taller wider low depth.

Getting this sub would also be good for listening to music dvds? I’ll go and do some measuring.. my 3070S is still on sale for £180 online, so I’ll probably get naff all for it?

XTZ 12.17 Edge in white? I’ve not heard one so going on rep and aesthetics

Forgot to ask you all, as you can see from my current setup in the picture... have I got my sub in the WRONG place?😳

should I move my front floorstanders further apart and put my current and future sub to the right hand side of my front left floorstander? But then won’t that put the left floorstander too close to the left of the wall? 🤦‍♂️

found this pic of where a sub should go if it’s correct?

Can you post up the dimensions of your room and a rough plan, including where you sit (and how far that is from the side and back wall)? If you can indicate possible locations as well, that would help.

Literally just a photo of a hand drawn sketch would be fine.

I'll have a look at room sim for you and see where works well.

Hi Conrad

so.. my living room is

15.2ft wide

12.5ft deep

I sit 8.5ft away from the wall behind the TV
From the side wall to where I sit it’s 12.5ft

I can’t draw diagrams sorry😂

have a look at my room photo here

I sit on the sofa in the seat nearest to the side table next to the sofa where my rear surround speaker is

I can work with that, just :)

Ok, if those measurements are right (and I'm not convinced they are) then the corner to your left, at the end of your couch in the corner would work well for a sub. What space do you have there?

doh! Just realised what you meant in your previous message

from where i sit, the back of my head is only 10 inches from the back wall and to the side wall where my left surround sound speaker is, it’s just under 7ft sorry matey

definitely don’t have room for a sub next to my sofa by the wall on the left hand side

That makes more sense, thanks.
Almost directly opposite you then, where your sub is now, is probably about the best spot if you can't fit the sub on the left. On the other side of the TV (so on the right) would work as well.

Usual rules seem to work, 1/4 or 1/3 of the front wall. You'll need some sort of EQ to tame the 45Hz mode your seating position gives.
