I have a Rapsberry Pi4 which is playing a movie on my Panasonic TV AS802 screen via HDMI. I control the playing of the movie (and other uses) remotely via VNC.

I have found that if I leave the HDMI input for example to watch the news live, or turn off the tv, when I return to continue watching the movie after only a short time, the TV screen is blank.

I know that the movie is still playing because if I move the Pi4 USB mouse pointer the movie will reappear. I want to remove the mouse and keyboard eventually so would not be able to do that.

I am asking for help in this forum because I know the HDMI signal is being produced (I can see the movie is still via VNC) to the TV so the 'problem' appears to be at the TV.

From the TV end, is there any way to connect back to the still incoming HDMI signal?

Edit: Problem was with the Pi 4 blanking the screen by default. Took a while to find the old command which still works to prevent this.

Old method
