What's New on Netflix UK for July 2020 - news discussion

German Netflix is becoming worste over time, thinking to cancel my sub.

Is Gladiator really coming to Netflix UK? Will it be in 4K? If so I can’t wait!

I don't recall seeing any 4k films on Netflix other than their originals.

OT I know but would be good to see a 'Suggestions to Watch on Apple TV'. The only thing I've watched since getting the 12 month trial with a phone is one episode of Amazing Stories. Really does look like it will be the first cancelled of the Netflix/Prime/NowTV/Disney/Apple quintet.
Netflix is unmissable for its series, Prime just comes with Prime, NowTV is a keeper for the kids stuff and movies and Disney so far does a decent job with the movies (but its next on the to-go list after Apple).

Perhaps one was written early on in the lockdown - so apologies in advance if its lurking around.

Many thanks for taking the time to list the new releases.

I am particularly keen to see The Old Guard as spent a couple of (very hot) days last summer working on this as an extra and want to see if I've made the final cut - to be fair the advance publicity does make it look good.

Will also be up for a re watch of the Mission Impossible film which seems to buck the trend of diminishing sequel returns by being really rather good and (in my humble) Bond beating in every respect?

The MI series has bested every Bond since Casino Royale. In fact I can't see Bond ever coming close to the double-bill of Rogue Nation and Fallout, only thing that stands a chance is MI7&8.

It's the only Blockbuster franchise I can think of that just keeps getting better (although, on a different level, Fast & Furious has had some impressive latter blockbuster sequels considering its first couple of entries, and boasts just about the best ensemble action cast in a blockbuster production).

Apart from Umbrella Academy and Transformers, everything else looks trash

I'm well and truly fed up with Netflix, I've not watched any new original program since stranger things, it's not that I've tried...I have. If it wasn't for my three daughters watching reality TV crap I would cancel it in a heartbeat

Low level Netflix originals, Netflix series you never know if they will finish with an ending. Very old movies, 10 to 20 years old as new content. Netflix is terrible. I cancelled recently after 10 month. I just couldn’t find anything to watch anymore. May join again for Stranger Things 3 for 2 month.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Ju-On, which starts tomorrow. I enjoyed the original film, and I thought the first remake with Buffy was one of the better Hollywood remakes, and somewhat underrated. It has the potential to be a good show, but I won't hold my breath. I'll also jump on Unsolved Mysteries, as I've never watched it, but it sounds pretty good.

Great write-up, as always. Thanks!

Quite a weak month for both Netflix and Prime.

I might cancel Netflix and opt for Now TV Cinema pass, at least the films are generally superior and newer releases with IT Chapter 2, Frozen 2, Gemini Man and Ad Astra this month.

I'm also falling into the "why do I still pay for this?!" category.

I watched the Epstein series the other day, but beyond that it's a proper struggle to find anything new to watch.

Most of the Netflix original stuff is just utter garbage. It's 1 winner to 20 stinkers at the minute.

It seems most of your recommendations are for younger folks , I'm a wee bit older (70). Loved game of thrones. Lol
Hi Peeza, thanks for your feedback. When choosing the shows/movies to feature in the streaming articles we do try and be as broad-spectrum as possible but we take on board your comment and will try and be more inclusive for our more mature readers in future.

Thank you for the long long long long list.
I would love a top 5 must see for different types of people.
I would hate to make a list of different types of people. However I belong in the “likes well written drama” group.

After speaking to my neighbour who has worked on the cursed (make up/creatures etc) she has said its quite low budget compared to the Witcher which she has been working on but said if it does well they will be going ahead with more seasons. Liking the look of this and also interested to see how Gustaf skaarsgard does outside of vikings too

Oh yeah, Fast and Furious is indeed on another level, when you get in a lift it can be marked as "G" sometimes, or the number......

You consider Gemini Man (new or not) as a superior release to anything on Netflix?

Netflix is never going to feature big name recent films as a regular thing. It would be nice to have that, but it ain't going to happen.

Funnily enough, I would cancel Disney+ in an instant due to lack of non film content. But I'm going to have to wait a while.

I recommend Dark (final season) And Deadwind (season 2)
